Philips Hue is raising prices in the US ‘as a direct result of tariffs’
Philips Hue prices will go up in the US on July 1st. Parent company Signify says it’s inflating prices “as a direct result of tariffs” Signify hasn’t specified which products will be affected, but its statement suggests the changes may impact the entire Hue lineup. The company is already starting to charge US customers more for products like the new $219.99 Hue Play Wall Washer light.
“We remain committed to providing consumers with high-quality products and features that make smart lighting extraordinary,“ Signify said in a statement to Hueblog. ”Signify reserves the right to modify prices based on new or additional tariffs becoming effective in the future.”
Signify hasn’t provided updated pricing or specified exactly which products will be affected, but its statement suggests the changes may impact the entire Hue lineup. The company is already starting to charge US customers more for products like the new $219.99 Hue Play Wall Washer light, which Hueblog notes is around 10 percent more than the €199.99 EU pricing when currencies are converted. The latest $32.99 Smart Button is also higher than the $24.99 launch price of its predecessor, while EU pricing has remained at €21.99 (about $25) for both.
Hue’s smart lighting is already some of the most expensive on the market, so the incoming price increases could entice consumers in the US to seek out more affordable alternatives. Some smart home tech providers may still be able to undercut Hue prices while facing down the same 125 percent Trump tariff rate on Chinese imports that are causing supply chain issues across the wider industry. And worryingly, Signify’s statement suggests the company is prepared to raise US prices even further in the future, pending any more tariff changes.
You’ve got one week to stock up on Philips Hue gear before a tariff-fueled price hike
Philips Hue prices in the US will increase from July 1. The reason for the increase is the impact of US tariffs. The official Hue store will show the price changes from the first day of July. It may take a bit longer for the increases to filter through to retail stores.
After alluding to the price hike in a marketing email, Hue’s parent company, Signify, confirmed the increases in a statement to HueBlog. No further details about the scale of the increases have yet been revealed, but the company also spelled out that it wouldn’t necessarily be the last tariff-related price adjustment.
““Signify will increase prices on our Philips Hue portfolio in the US, effective July 1, 2025, as a direct result of tariffs. We remain committed to providing consumers with high-quality products and features that make smart lighting extraordinary,” — Signify statement
As bad as this news is for smart home fans, it’s an incentive for those looking to bolster their smart home setup to act quickly. While the official Hue store will show the price changes from the first day of July, it may take a bit longer for the increases to filter through to retail stores, so it’s worth shopping around if you’re late to the news.
Bulb maker Philips is raising prices as ‘direct result of tariffs’
U.S. consumers will soon face higher prices on a range of Philips Hue smart lighting and security devices due to tariffs. Philips Hue’s parent company, Signify, hinted in a recent promotional message that hikes could be starting July 1. The updated prices won’t be posted on the official Philips Hue online store until next week, but the comments suggest the increases could apply across its full Hue range.
Philips Hue’s parent company, Signify, hinted in a recent promotional message that hikes could be starting July 1. Now, the company has confirmed the increases are being implemented as a direct result of tariffs on imports, in a statement shared with Hueblog on Tuesday.
“Signify reserves the right to adjust pricing in response to new or expanded tariffs,” but remains “committed to offering consumers high-quality products and features that make smart lighting extraordinary,” it said. The updated prices won’t be posted on the official Philips Hue online store until next week, but the comments suggest the increases could apply across its full Hue range.
The rising prices stem from President Donald Trump’s 55% tariff on certain Chinese imports, which already is disrupting the broader smart home industry. U.S. shoppers are seeing elevated prices on newer items like the Hue Play Wall Washer, which now retails for $219.99 — roughly 10% more than its European counterpart. Similarly, the latest Hue Smart Button is listed at $32.99 in the U.S., up from the $24.99 launch price of the previous model, even as European pricing holds steady around $25.
More than half of the U.S. companies surveyed by insurance company Allianz said they will have to raise prices to accommodate the cost of the tariffs, according to a report published last month. A survey by the New York Federal Reserve, also out last month, found that three-quarters of businesses facing tariff-induced cost increases passed along at least some of these costs to consumers.
The survey also found that a “significant share” of companies said they increased prices of products not impacted by Trump’s levies as part of a strategy to brace for the wider impact of the duties.

Philips Hue will raise prices in the US on July 1, 2025. The price increase is a result of tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. It’s unclear how much the prices will increase. Other companies have imposed tariff-related price hikes while trying to migrate their manufacturing outside of China to avoid Trump’s trade war. For example, the new Hue Smart Button currently costs $32.99 in US but only €21.99 ($25.57) in Germany.
In a recent email to customers, Philip Hue hinted that a price hike was coming, writing, “Hurry, prices go up on July 1.” On Tuesday, its parent company, Signify, confirmed the price increase to Hueblog.com.
“Signify will increase prices on our Philips Hue portfolio in the US, effective July 1, 2025, as a direct result of tariffs. We remain committed to providing consumers with high-quality products and features that make smart lighting extraordinary,” it says.
Although it’s unclear how much the prices will increase, the statement adds: “Signify reserves the right to modify prices based on new or additional tariffs becoming effective in the future.”
Signify didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, making it unclear which US tariffs affect its products. However, the Trump administration has imposed a 30% or higher tariff on Chinese imports and a 10% duty on goods from various other countries. An impending US trade deal with China might also raise the country’s tariff rate to 55%.
Hueblog also notes that prices for Philips Hue products in the US are already more expensive than in Europe. For example, the new Hue Smart Button currently costs $32.99 in the US but only €21.99 ($25.57) in Germany.
Other companies, including PC-related vendors, have also imposed tariff-related price hikes while trying to migrate their manufacturing outside of China to avoid Trump’s trade war.
Philips Hue lighting is getting even more expensive on July 1 as a ‘direct result’ of tariffs
Philips Hue will increase prices in the US starting on July 1. The company attributes the price hike directly to US tariffs. The exact impact of these price increases has yet to be confirmed. The new Hue Smart Button and Wall Washer products launching in the U.S. at a 10% price hike.
Over the past few weeks, Philips Hue has been advertising a 25% off sale to its customers via email with the added detail that “Our prices increase on July 1.”
Signify, the company behind the Philips Hue brand, has now expanded on what this means.
Speaking to HueBlog, Signify says that Philips Hue will “increase prices” in the US starting on July 1, and attributes it directly to tariffs in the country. The exact impact of these price increases has yet to be confirmed, but the new Hue Smart Button and Wall Washer products launching in the US at a 10% price hike compared to other regions offers a pretty good idea of what to expect.
