The faucet was sold exclusively by third-party seller Whisper08 on Amazon.com between January 2024 and May 2025, typically priced around $40.

The brushed nickel, single-handle faucet features a pull-down sprayer and is designed for single-hole installation. It was marketed as a budget-friendly and stylish upgrade for home kitchens, making it a popular choice for DIY remodelers. However, subsequent testing found that the faucet can leach lead into drinking water at levels exceeding federal safety standards. Lead is a toxic metal, and prolonged exposure—even at low levels—can cause developmental issues in children, including reduced IQ, learning difficulties, and behavioral problems. Pregnant women and infants are especially vulnerable to its harmful effects.

Although no injuries or incidents have been reported so far, the CPSC is urging consumers to stop using the faucet immediately. Those affected should contact Whisper08 to request a refund. To receive a refund, consumers must submit a photo proving the faucet has been discarded along with the original Amazon order number. Whisper08 has stated that they are proactively contacting customers who purchased the product.

Consumers who are unsure whether their faucet is included in the recall should check their Amazon order history for purchases from Whisper08, specifically for the VFAUOSIT kitchen faucet with the model number 06BNV. In the meantime, if the faucet remains in use, running cold water for at least 15 seconds before using it for cooking or drinking is advised to help flush out some of the lead.

To avoid similar issues in the future, experts recommend purchasing fixtures that are labeled “lead-free” and certified by trusted safety organizations. Consumers should also consider using a certified water filter to remove contaminants from their tap water. This recall highlights the importance of safety compliance in home fixtures, especially those used for drinking and cooking.
