Former tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot and killed by her father, Deepak Yadav, inside their home in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok area on Thursday. Police confirmed on Friday that Radhika’s mother, Manju Yadav, was on the same floor at the time of the incident. Investigators are looking into all possible angles, including her role and awareness of the events when the shooting occurred.According to the FIR filed by Radhika’s uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, Manju Yadav was inside the house on the first floor when her husband opened fire at their daughter. This contradicts earlier reports that she was on the ground floor and came rushing up after hearing what she initially thought was a pressure cooker blast.Kuldeep, who lives on the ground floor of the same house, said he heard a loud noise around 10:30 am and ran upstairs.”I saw my niece Radhika lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen, and the revolver was found in the drawing room. My son, Piyush Yadav, also rushed to the first floor. Both of us picked up Radhika and rushed her in our car to Asia Maringo Hospital in Sector 56, where doctors declared her dead,” he said in his statement.Gurugram Police said Deepak Yadav fired at least five shots, with three bullets hitting Radhika in the back, killing her on the spot. Investigators are now focused on understanding what exactly Manju Yadav witnessed during the incident.A senior police official said, “We are probing all angles, including what the former tennis player’s mother was doing when the killing happened.”Kuldeep told police that only Deepak, his wife Manju, and Radhika were on the first floor at the time. Their son Dheeraj was not home. The police have recovered a licensed .32 bore revolver from the scene. While Deepak Yadav has confessed to the killing, the motive remains under investigation.Sources said Deepak admitted to shooting Radhika because he was often taunted for depending on her financially. However, police in their official statement said the dispute centered around the tennis academy she managed.“Radhika used to run a tennis academy, and her father was not happy with it,” said Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Singh.Kuldeep described his niece as a promising player. “My niece was a very good tennis player, and she had won several trophies. I am surprised why she was murdered. My brother has a licensed .32 bore revolver. It was lying there,” he told the police.Radhika’s tennis career and her business had made her a known name in her local community. Police have said the investigation is ongoing and all family members are being questioned further.
