“He (Rahul) is most likely to join the stir in Patna,” a top Congress source said on Sunday.
State Congress president Rajesh Kumar said their party would actively participate in the ‘Chakka jam’, and depending upon its success, they would launch a bigger agitation later. He alleged the SIR is a conspiracy to deny the poor the right to vote, which they would strongly oppose.
While the RJD has already announced its full support to the stir, the SIR issue has also strongly agitated the Left. “We have already started a statewide movement demanding the immediate rollback of the summary voter list revision. Our movement will continue for the entire month,” CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya told reporters.
Sources said all allies of the INDIA bloc — the RJD, Congress, VIP and Left Front — would join the stir. Left-affiliated trade unions have given a call for Bharat Bandh on the day in support of their 17-point charter of demands.
