Rant & Rave: Pickleballers played in path
RANT to the people who were playing pickleball on a paved walking path at Lake Sammamish State Park during the busy Memorial Day weekend.RAVE to the special education teachers for including my nonverbal son in his elementary school concert.RANT to those who add their garbage (often poop bags) to the top of full garbage cans in the city. Keep walking until you find a can that your garbage will fit in, even if that is at your home. Rave to sustainable “lawns” such as clover. Rant to people who invite you to an event, then ask you to drive. “Hey, we have an extra ticket to the Mariners game. Do you want to go? By the way, can you drive?”
RAVE to the special education teachers for including my nonverbal son in his elementary school concert.
RANT to the Washington State Department of Transportation for the botched traffic flow on the new Montlake lid. Just drive southbound on Montlake Boulevard from the bridge and try getting onto the 520 eastbound or westbound onramps, or onto Lake Washington Boulevard. Continued massive traffic delays and fender benders to come. How many years did they have to design this mess?
RAVE to Puget Sound Energy. Dealing with them can be frustrating, BUT not the other day. Double shoutout. First, to the lovely lady in customer service for listening to our issues and taking action immediately, getting an expert to call us in less than 15 minutes. Second, to the amazing gentleman in sewer and inspection management. Both courteous and knowledgeable. Thanks for the great service experience.
RANT to those who add their garbage (often poop bags) to the top of full garbage cans in the city. Keep walking until you find a can that your garbage will fit in, even if that is at your home. AND rant to the city for not keeping up with garbage collection.
RAVE to the staff at Lumen Field and the Seattle Sounders soccer team, as well as the EMTs, who quickly and kindly peeled me off the concrete after I faceplanted before the match. Their efficiency, expertise and speed getting to the emergency room was wonderful. This Sounders fan had a broken nose but a grateful spirit.

RANT to parking lot drivers who misbehave and do things like go the wrong way on clearly marked one-way lanes and stop in the middle of the lane (rather than moving to the side to let others go around) while waiting for a space to vacate.
RAVE to the good Samaritan who found my wallet and returned it to me. I apparently dropped it after attending the Folklife Festival. I was so thankful, I forgot to offer a reward. So, thanks again to the honest citizen who makes the city proud.
RANT to people who invite you to an event, then ask you to drive. “Hey, we have an extra ticket to the Mariners game. Do you want to go? By the way, can you drive?” Rude.
RAVE to the volunteers at the Green Lake pickleball court who host recreational sessions for beginners. Their gentle introduction to play at this intimidating-seeming venue is a gift!
RANT AND RAVE Rant to the series of unfortunate circumstances that so delayed mine and my husband’s flight to Colorado Springs from Sea-Tac Airport to attend a family event, that we had to cancel our trip entirely. Rave to so many kind and concerned airline personnel who tried so hard to make things work for us.
RANT AND RAVE Rant to grassy, expensive to maintain, environmentally unfriendly lawns. Rave to sustainable “lawns” such as clover.
