Report: Jalen Ramsey will not attend Dolphins mandatory minicamp
Jalen Ramsey will not attend the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp this week. The Dolphins are looking to trade the defensive back. Ramsey recorded 60 total tackles, 11 passes defensed, and two interceptions in 17 games last season.
But with the team looking to trade him, he’s not going to be around for Miami’s mandatory minicamp this week.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports Ramsey will stay away from the end of the club’s offseason program, which comes as no surprise given the state of things between the player and the franchise.
Head coach Mike McDaniel noted a few days ago that he isn’t keeping tabs on the day-to-day of the Ramsey trade talks, underscoring how the Dolphins have effectively already moved on. At this point, it’s more just a matter of where Ramsey will end up.
In 2024, Ramsey recorded 60 total tackles, 11 passes defensed, and two interceptions in 17 games.
Jalen Ramsey Not expected to attend minicamp
Jalen Ramsey is not expected to attend the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp, Ian Rapoport reports. The Dolphins and Ramsey have been in talks over a possible trade.
Ramsey is not planning to attend the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp during the coming week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
It was reported in mid-April that Ramsey and the Dolphins were mutually interested in parting ways via a trade, and that sentiment doesn’t seem to have changed on either side. Though a deal hasn’t come to fruition yet, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post suggested in late May that the Rams, Cowboys and Commanders could be possible suitors. Per Rapoport, Ramsey is planning to stay away from the Dolphins until the situation is resolved.
REPORT: Ramsey Will NOT be at Mandatory Mini-Camp This Week
Jalen Ramsey will not be at the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp this week. He is staying away until the trade situation works its way towards a conclusion. It had been reported for weeks that the relationship between Ramsey and Mike McDaniel is so fractured that there was no salvaging it, and a trade had to happen. Ramsey only played in 27 games for the Dolphins and had five interceptions during that time.

A straight post-June 1st trade had Miami eating $ 6.745 million of dead cap this season, and it opened up $9.9 million of cap space. But we know Miami, to trade Ramsey, had to take on some money and eat more dead money to get a deal done.

The Dolphins’ secondary right now is in shambles, with Miami losing all four starters from last season. This offseason, they have added Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis at the safety position. They have yet to add a cornerback and will now depend on Cam Smith, Storm Duck, and Kader Kohou, as well as any rookies they add at that position.
With Ramsey soon to be gone, the cornerback position is up there with the defensive line as the biggest need on this team right now, heading into the 2025 season. I would expect Miami to look to add a veteran, unsigned cornerback on the open market still.
Rasul Douglas, Asante Samuel Jr., Stephon Gilmore, Mike Hilton, and CJ Henderson are still available players on the market whom Miami may target.
