Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) following its alleged call to remove the words ‘socialist’ and ‘secular’ from the Preamble of the Constitution. In a strongly worded post, he accused the RSS of being the most casteist and hateful organisation in the country.Lalu’s remarks followed a speech by RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale at an event in Delhi on Thursday, where he suggested removing the two words from the Preamble, saying that they were inserted during the Emergency by the then Congress govt. Hosabale also demanded that Congress apologise for imposing the Emergency 50 years ago under the leadership of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.Reacting to Lalu’s criticism, BJP OBC Morcha national general secretary Nikhil Anand said, “Laluji has blunted the edge of social justice for the so-called secular politics of appeasement. The socialists have sacrificed the politics of social justice and diversity for the sake of Muslim appeasement. The proposal of RSS general secretary Hosabale to keep the original preamble of the Constitution intact is absolutely correct. It would be better if Laluji does not speak nonsense while sitting in the lap of Congress, the party which has insulted Baba Saheb.”Recalling the Emergency, Hosabale said thousands were imprisoned, the media and judiciary were suppressed and mass forced sterilisations were carried out. “Those who did such acts are today moving around with a copy of the Constitution. They have still not apologised. Your ancestors did it. You must apologise for this to the country,” he said, in a veiled reference to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, the grandson of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.On Wednesday, the BJP-led NDA govt observed ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas’, marking the 50th anniversary of the Emergency’s imposition.
