Patna: Launching a scathing attack on RJD and Congress , Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said these parties were against the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill as many of their leaders were either in jail or out on bail, while raising concerns over rapidly changing demographic profile of Bihar’s border districts.”The members of RJD, Congress, and Left parties are opposing this law. They are very angry, and who doesn’t know what they are afraid of? Some of these RJD and Congress members are out on bail, while some are entangled in court cases related to scams. And those who are roaming free on bail are opposing this law today. They fear that if they go to jail, all their dreams will be shattered. That is why, they are hurling various abuses at Modi,” the PM said in a public rally at Magadh University in Bodh Gaya. The Bill proposes the removal of the Prime Minister, chief ministers and ministers, if they are arrested or detained for 30 days on serious charges.”If a government employee is imprisoned for 50 hours, then he loses his job automatically, be it a driver, a clerk or a peon. But a CM, a Minister, or even a PM can enjoy staying in the government even from jail… Some time ago, we saw how files were being signed from jail and how government orders were given from jail,” PM Modi said, adding: “If leaders have such an attitude, how can we fight corruption.”After inaugurating several projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore, PM Modi said RJD leaders always indulged in corrupt practices. “Our Rajendra Babu, Baba Saheb Ambedkar could never have imagined that power-hungry people would engage in corruption and cling to their positions even after being sent to jail. But now, the corrupt will go to jail, and they will lose their positions. The resolve to free India from corruption is shared by millions across the country. This resolve will be fulfilled,” Modi added.Explaining further, PM Modi said once the law is enacted, any prime minister, chief minister, or minister who is arrested will be required to secure bail within 30 days. “If bail is not granted, they will have to vacate their position on the 31st day,” he said. The PM said the rising number of infiltrators in the country is a matter of grave concern. He highlighted that the demographic profile of Bihar’s border districts is changing rapidly and affirmed that their government has decided not to let infiltrators decide the future of the nation. He said infiltrators would not be allowed to snatch employment opportunities from Bihar’s youth and emphasized that facilities meant for Indian citizens will not be looted by infiltrators. To address this threat, the Prime Minister announced the launch of a demography mission, which will begin operations very soon.Promising to expel every infiltrator from the country, he urged the people of Bihar to remain vigilant against those within the country who support infiltrators. Modi strongly criticized the opposition parties for attempting to deprive Biharis of their rights and hand them over to infiltrators. Highlighting appeasement and vote-bank politics, Modi called upon the people of Bihar to remain extremely alert.Stressing that Bihar must be protected from the harmful intentions of the opposition parties, Modi emphasized that this is a very crucial time for Bihar. He expressed hope that the dreams of Bihar’s youth will be fulfilled and added that the aspirations of the people of Bihar must be given new wings.Referring to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where innocent civilians were killed after being asked their religion, Modi recalled that it was from the land of Bihar that he had vowed to eliminate terrorism. “Today, the world is witnessing the fulfillment of that resolve taken on Bihar’s soil,” he said.Modi reminded the nation that while Pakistan was launching drone and missile attacks, India was intercepting and neutralizing those missiles mid-air like straw in the wind. He affirmed that not a single missile from Pakistan was able to cause harm to India.”Operation Sindoor has drawn a new line in India’s defence strategy”, exclaimed Modi asserting that now, no one can escape after sending terrorists into India or orchestrating attacks. He remarked that even if terrorists hide in the depths of the earth, India’s missiles will bury them there.”Bihar is the land of Chandragupta Maurya and Chanakya. Whenever India has faced challenges from its enemies, Bihar has stood as a shield for the nation”, said the PM emphasizing that any resolve taken on the soil of Bihar never goes unfulfilled.Modi also focussed on Bihar’s development in his speech, highlighting how the Centre is working shoulder to shoulder with CM Nitish Kumar and reaffirmed that to maintain the pace of development in Bihar, the central govt and state authorities are continuously working hard.Nitish Kumar in his speech, lauded Modi for extending financial and other sorts of assistance to Bihar.Attacking the previous govt of the Congress and the RJD for non-performance during their respective regimes before 2005, Nitish said, “The previous state governments had not done any work in Bihar. When the NDA government came into power on November 24, 2005, development work began. We have been continuously working towards the development of Bihar. Now, there is the rule of law here, and rapid development is taking place. Work is being done in all sectors, including education, health, roads, and electricity.”Nitish also said that the pension amount for the elderly, differently-abled, and widowed women, which was previously Rs 400 per month, has now been increased to Rs 1100, benefiting 1.12 crore people.”In 2018, electricity was provided to every household at a very low cost, but this year we have decided that all domestic consumers will receive electricity for free, starting from the month of July,” Nitish said.
