Heavy rain in Delhi and its adjoining areas brought respite from humidity and heat on Wednesday. The downpour also caused waterlogging in several areas, prompting traffic diversions in some areas.

Visuals shared online on Thursday morning show vehicles moving slowly through rain-soaked streets in Gurugram’s Civil Lines area and Delhi’s Mandi House. The visibility is low, and heavy rainfall continues, with roads appearing slick and partially waterlogged.

Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory
Delhi traffic also issued an advisory on Wednesday evening as water flooded roads in Delhi. As per the advisory, traffic has been diverted near areas close to Inderlok Chowk.
“In view of waterlogging at Zakhira Railway Underpass, Road No. 40, traffic is affected in the surrounding areas, with diversions in place near Inderlok Chowk. Traffic from Shastri Nagar/KD Chowk is diverted towards Chaudhary Nahar Singh Marg and vice versa. Commuters are advised to avoid the affected stretch and use alternative routes for a smoother journey,” Delhi Traffic Police said on X.
Yellow Alert Issued For Delhi-NCR For Today
Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR woke up to rain on Thursday too. A yellow alert is in place for today, July 10, for the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms for Delhi-NCR.

As of 5:30 AM on Thursday, the highest rainfall was recorded at Pusa with 72.5 mm, followed closely by Najafgarh at 71.5 mm and Ayanangar at 66.5 mm. Other significant rainfall figures include Palam (54.6 mm), Pragati Maidan (46.0 mm), and North Cap University in Gurugram (34.0 mm). Safdarjung received 18.6 mm, IGNOU 13.5 mm, while Janakpuri and Lodi Road both recorded 10.5 mm. The lowest rainfall was observed at Jafarpur, with just 3.5 mm.
