Rockies vs Padres Prediction
I’m on the over in this one. Initially I was looking at the Padres, but I just don’t love the Padres in their current form, as they couldn’t get anything going on Friday. But I think they get some runs going here against Brown. I also think Colorado can score against Randy Vasquez, who is a fringe starter at best for the Padres’ rotation in my opinion. I think we get some runs here, so I’ll roll with the over in this one.

In this article, we will formulate a Padres vs Rockies Prediction for this MLB game on Saturday, September 6th at the Coors Field in the second game of this series, with the Rockies having the 1-0 lead. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup. The Colorado Rockies have a 40-101 record this season and are sitting on the last place of the NL West. The Rockies have a 23-50 home record and are 61-76 in over/under. They are coming off a 3-0 home victory over the Padres, which ended their three-game losing streak. They are playing the Dodgers and the Padres next. The Rockies have a .241 batting average this season, .298 OBP and .393 Slugging percentage. Colorado’s pitching staff has a 5.97 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. Hunter Goodman leads the Rockies with 132 hits, also leading the team both in RBI, with 85, and in home runs, with 28. He is also the team’s best hitter with a .285 batting average.McCade Brown (R) is the projected starting pitcher for the Rockies, and he has a 0-2 record, 8.22 ERA and 2.09 WHIP.The San Diego Padres have a 76-65 record this season and are sitting on the second place of the NL West. Over is 3-1 in their last 4 meetings. In this Padres vs Rockies Prediction, the Padres are coming as -190 road favorites. The Padres are on a free fall lately, and I cannot back them up as big road favorites with Vasquez on the mound, who has been weaker on the road, with a 4.17 road ERA. On the flip side, McCade Brown looked terrible in his two starts for the Rockies, who also have one of the league’s weakest bullpens. Both teams are hitting better against righties, and I like both offenses to bounce back today. Take the over 12 runs.
Padres end losing streak with 10-8 win in Colorado
The San Diego Padres scored six runs in the second inning of the second game of their three-game series against the Colorado Rockies and went on to win the game 10-8. The Padres took advantage of Rockies starting pitcher McCade Brown, scoring six runs on five hits and limiting him to just 1 2/3 innings. Colorado starter Kyle Freeland, who held San Diego scoreless and allowed just two hits, started the game for the Rockies and allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits. Randy Vasquez made the start on the mound for San Diego after his recent call-up from Triple-A El Paso, and gave back two runs to make the score, 6-2. Jeremiah Estrada came on for the seventh inning and faced five batters, striking out two, but allowed a double, a walk and single that gave the Rockies another run.
The San Diego Padres scored six runs in the second inning of the second game of their three-game series against the Colorado Rockies and went on to win the game 10-8 at Coors Field, Saturday.
The Padres took advantage of Rockies starting pitcher McCade Brown, scoring six runs on five hits and limiting him to just 1 2/3 innings. It was a significant change from the effort shown by Colorado starter Kyle Freeland, who held San Diego scoreless and allowed just two hits, Saturday.
Brown hit Ryan O’Hearn to start the second. He then allowed a single to Ramón Laureano before hitting Jackson Merrill to load the bases. Jake Cronenworth reached on an infield single and gave the Padres a 1-0 lead.
Freddy Fermin, who recorded two hits and three RBI in the game, doubled to give the San Diego a 3-0 lead with runners at second and third. Mason McCoy struck out for the first out of the second inning and Fernando Tatis Jr. cleared the bases with a three-run home run to left-center to give the Padres a 6-0 advantage.
Brown remained in the game and allowed a single to Luis Arraez, got Manny Machado to fly out for the second out of the inning and issued a walk to O’Hearn before he was pulled from the game.
Randy Vasquez made the start on the mound for San Diego after his recent call-up from Triple-A El Paso, and gave back two runs in the bottom of the second inning to make the score, 6-2. One of the runs was unearned as the runner reached safely on a throwing error by McCoy.
Vasquez would go on to complete six innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts and no walks allowed.
Fermin recorded his second hit of the game and recorded his third RBI with a single in the top of the fifth to make the score, 7-2. The Padres added another run on a McCoy RBI-single to go up, 8-2. A single by Tatis Jr. loaded the bases and Arraez singled to drive in two runs to put San Diego ahead of Colorado, 10-2.
Hunter Goodman homered off Vasquez in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 10-3. Jeremiah Estrada came on for the seventh inning and faced five batters, striking out two, but allowed a double, a walk and single that gave the Rockies another run to cut the deficit to 10-4. Estrada then allowed a three-run home run to Jordan Beck and a game that seemed to be in-hand was now 10-7.
Mason Miller came on for Estrada to end the seventh. Miller stayed on for the eighth and was able to get three outs against four hitters to preserve the Padres’ lead.
Robert Suarez came in for the save in the bottom of the ninth inning and allowed a solo home run to Mickey Moniak, which pulled the Rockies within two at 10-8. Suarez would also allow a single before the inning ended, but eventually locked down the save and the win for San Diego.
It was a good offensive night for the Padres. Machado was the only player not to get a a hit, finishing 0-for-5. Arraez and O’Hearn each had three hits in the game and Tatis Jr., Laureano and Fermin each had two hits.
Padres end 5-game losing streak with 10-8 win over Rockies
The Padres ended their 5-game losing streak with a 10-8 win over the Rockies. The win moves the Padres within a game of the Dodgers in the NL West. The Padres will take on the Dodgers on Sunday in the series finale. The game will be played at Coors Field in Denver.
The Padres posted another crooked number in their 4-run 5th inning, giving them a 10-2 lead. While that should have been enough of a cushion to give their high-leverage relievers the night off, Jeremiah Estrada allowed 4 runs in the 7th inning, including a 3-run home run by Jordan Beck, bringing the Rockies to within 3 runs. Mason Miller and Robert Suarez were brought in to pitch with the game in the balance in the late innings. Despite allowing a solo homer in the 9th inning to Mickey Moniak, the Padres held on for a 10-8 win to pull within a game of the Dodgers after their meltdown against the Orioles. Dylan Cease will take the mound for the Padres in Sunday’s series finale with a chance to win the series and get even atop the NL West if the Dodgers lose as well.

San Diego has played well in front of its home crowd (43-25 record), but is 33-39 on the road. The Rockies have been more competitive since June (39-101 SU, 59-81 RL, and 61-75-4 O/U) Colorado is slightly more competitive against the run line, but most bettors have steered clear of this season.

San Diego limped into this series
San Diego (76-64 SU, 78-62 RL, and 60-74-6 O/U) was swept by Baltimore in its previous series. The Padres are 2-8 in their last ten games (the over was 7-1-2).
SD hasn’t named a probable starter for Saturday’s game at Colorado. Randy Vásquez is expected to be recalled from Triple-A El Paso to make the start, per Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune. The 26-year-old last pitched for the Padres on August 15, allowing two runs and three hits in a 3.2-inning loss to the Dodgers. He is 3-6 with a 3.96 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 23 starts (111.1 IP) this season at the MLB level, including 2-4 with a 4.17 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 12 road appearances (54.0 IP).
San Diego was off to a hot start to the second half of this season, briefly overaking the Dodgers for the lead position in the division race. The Friars’ momentum was stalled recently, however, as they have dropped three consecutive series. San Diego has played well in front of its home crowd (43-25 record), but is 33-39 on the road. Can the Padres play consistently enough to make a deep run in the 2025 MLB postseason?
San Diego Padres Baseball Injury Report: No injuries for tomorrow’s game versus the Rockies.
Rockies have been more competitive since June
Colorado (39-101 SU, 59-81 RL, and 61-75-4 O/U) was swept by San Francisco in its previous series. The Rockies are 2-8 in their last ten games (the under was 6-4).
Colorado will turn to righty McCade Brown on Saturday against San Diego. The 25-year-old has only made two MLB appearances this season, pitching to a 0-2 record with an 8.22 ERA and 2.09 WHIP in 7.2 combined innings against the Pirates and Cubs. The 2021 third-round pick out of Indiana was 4-2 with a 2.47 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 20 combined minor league appearances (76.2 IP) at the A+ and AA levels.
The Rockies have failed to be more competitive this season, trailing the first-place Dodgers by 39 games in the NL West division standings. It’s been tough for Rockies hitters to make an impact on the game’s outcome, as the pitching staff has a 6.01 ERA, including 6.59 at home. While slightly more competitive against the run line, Colorado is a team most bettors have steered clear of this season.
Colorado Rockies Baseball Injury Report: No new injuries for tomorrow’s game versus the Padres.
Padres vs. Rockies Pick
Run Line Pick for Padres vs. Rockies
Rockies Cover Run Line (5 Units)
The 6-foot-6 Brown has upside. He found success in the minors this year, fanning 105 batters in 76.2 innings and holding opponents to a .192 BA. He can be effective against a Padres lineup that ranks 18th in wOBA and wRC+ on the road this season. Vásquez wasn’t great in his last two MLB appearances, either. The Padres’ expected starter allowed seven runs and 11 hits in just 7.2 innings.
San Diego is only 9-14 against the run line as road favorites this season. I like Colorado to score enough runs to keep the final score close on Saturday in Denver.
Over/Under Pick for Padres vs. Rockies
Over (4 Units)
Colorado is slashing .265 BA/.312 OBP/.426 SLG/.738 OPS in the second half of the season, scoring 0.9 more runs per game than in the first half. They should be able to put runners on base against Vásquez, who hasn’t gotten consistent work in a while and has a 6.23 career ERA against the Rockies.
The visitors will also push Brown to make quality pitches. The 25-year-old walked six batters and hit two batters in his first two big league appearances (7.2 IP). The Padres haven’t been winning much recently, but they averaged 4.9 runs per game in August. With an ineffective Colorado bullpen (29th in ERA) backing up a rookie starter, San Diego should have ample opportunities to score on Saturday in the Mile High City. Bet on the over!
