Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, hasn’t seen much action since Rockstar Games’ 2022 announcement that it would be cutting back support for the game. But it seems the studio hasn’t completely given up on the live-service title, as Rockstar has just released Strange Tales Of The West Vol. 1, a new set of Telegram Missions that introduce a multitude of strange new features to the game, including zombies and robots.

“Author Theodore Levin can’t believe the rumors and missives he’s been receiving from the four corners of the American frontier,” Rockstar’s official website says in an announcement of the new in-game content. “He’s working on an anthology of these unexplained and weird phenomena and he needs your help investigating the wildest claims that cross his desk.”

Strange Tales Of The West includes the following missions:

Strange Tales Of The Plague: A mysterious malady is affecting the residents of Armadillo, effectively turning them into zombies. Players are tasked with retrieving a number of these diseased corpses for the purpose of scientific study, but doing so is no small task. In addition to preventing Armadillo’s shambling residents from killing or infecting them, players must also keep an eye out for nearby cultists who will attack on sight.

Strange Tales Of Modern Science: A scientifically minded fellow has created artificial life! Unfortunately, his metal creations are now stalking the area near Braithwaite Manor, exterminating anyone who gets too close. Players must uncover the truth behind these metal monstrosities, and eliminate any that try to get in their way.

Strange Tales Of The Bayou: A terrifying creature swims in the depths of Lagras’ swamps. Players must defeat the swamp creature and bring it back to Theodore Levin for analysis, but there’s a catch: The creature isn’t the only danger lurking in the swamps of Lagras. Aggressive swamp-folk also call the area home, and don’t take nicely to any trespassers, so players will want to keep an eye out for ambushes.

Strange Tales Of The Wilderness: A scientist has gone missing while researching a group of murderers located in Tall Trees. Players must investigate the scientist’s disappearance, and — when the investigation inevitably goes off the rails — use their survival skills to find weapons, hunt down edible game, and track down both the scientist and his kidnappers.

To access the Strange Tales Of The West Vol. 1 Telegram Missions (which are available now), players must retrieve Theodore Levin’s letter from their Camp Lockbox or any in-game post office. To start the missions, open the letter via your satchel or launch Telegram Missions from the player menu.

Players will also earn three times the standard amount of Gold, RDO$, and XP on Telegram Missions (including Strange Tales Of The West Missions) through Aug. 4. For more information on Strange Tales Of The West, check out Rockstar’s latest blog post.
