Galaxy Z Fold 7 flaunts its sleek design in hands-on video with dummy unit
A new video shows off a dummy model of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This video offers our clearest look yet at the upcoming phone. Early intel indicates that new foldables from the brand could be announced on July 9. Samsung is also rumored to be working on a new Z Flip 7 with an improved front display, along with new wearables as well with its Galaxy Watch 8 lineup. For the most part, this upcoming event could host the most exciting products released by Samsung in quite some time. We’ll just have to wait and find out what Samsung has in store for us.
While we have yet to get official word about a release, early intel indicates that new foldables from the brand could be announced on July 9. We’ve been seeing renders over the past few months, but a new video shows off a dummy model of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This video offers our clearest look yet at the upcoming phone, showing off just how sleek and thin it really is.
This could be the foldable we’ve been waiting for
The video comes to us from the YouTube channel 더신자 TheSINZA, showing off a dummy model of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 (via SammyGuru). Now, what’s interesting is, not only do we get the physical dimensions of the dummy model, but the YouTube channel also shows comparisons to other Samsung phones as well, to give us a better idea of its physical proportions.
The Z Fold 7 could end up being the lightest foldable the brand has ever released, coming in at just 215 grams. In addition, the phone could also be the thinnest one from the brand that we’ve seen as well, coming in at just 4.54mm when unfolded. It’s also important to note that there could be some improvements to the display and its crease as well.
But if there is one part of the phone that might disappoint, it’s the fact that the new model could arrive with a hole-punch camera in the display. Naturally, the position of this isn’t quite clear at this point, and could be in the center or the corner, but at the very least, the current information suggests that the phone will not have an Under Display Camera (UDC).
Naturally, since this is a dummy model, there is always the chance that some of the details could be off. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long to find out — if the phone is set to make its debut next month. In addition to the Z Fold 7, Samsung is also rumored to be working on a new Z Flip 7 with an improved front display, along with new wearables as well with its Galaxy Watch 8 lineup.
For the most part, this upcoming event could host the most exciting products released by Samsung in quite some time. And if all of that wasn’t enough, we’ve also been hearing rumors that Samsung has something special in store with a foldable that tops all other foldables. We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 looks stunningly slim in new leaked photo vs. Fold 6
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is noticeably slimmer and has a larger screen than the Z Fold 6. It measures at just 4.5mm thick when unfolded, compared to its predecessor’s 5.6mm. The dummy unit also confirms that Samsung plans to ditch the Z fold 6’s under-display camera for a punch-hole camera on its inner display. We’ll hold off on final judgments until the details are confirmed and we’ve had some hands-on time with the foldable phone. Samsung hasn’t revealed a launch date yet, but it looks like the Zfold 7, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Watch 8 could arrive on July 9 at a new Galaxy Unpacked showcase. The Z Fold SE, which was released exclusively in China and Korea, will also go on sale next month.
This week, Korean YouTube channel TheSINZA shared a hands-on video comparing a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 dummy unit alongside last year’s Z Fold 6 as well as the Z Fold SE, which was released exclusively in China and Korea.
With competitors like the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Motorola Razr 2024, the race is heating up for the best foldable phone crown. And it’s clear Samsung has taken notice. The video confirms what these week’s leaked Galaxy Z Fold 7 renders hinted at already: That Samsung’s fixing two of the foldable’s biggest problems with this upcoming generation.

First up, its profile. In the video, the Z Fold 7 is noticeably slimmer and has a larger screen than the Z Fold 6. It measures at just 4.5mm thick when unfolded, compared to its predecessor’s 5.6mm. For perspective, the Galaxy S25 Edge clocks in at 5.8mm, and its thin profile is its biggest selling point that distinguishes it from Samsung’s flagships like the Galaxy S25.
When folded, the Fold 7 measures at 9 mm, compared to the 12.1 mm of the Fold 6. But beyond the slimmer chassis, what catches your eye the most is the jump in screen size, with the Z Fold 7 upgrading to an 8.2-inch main display, up from the Z Fold 6’s 7.6-inch display. The bigger display makes the Z Fold 7 look closer to something like the premium Galaxy S25 Ultra than its predecessor.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 breaks with tradition
The dummy unit also confirms that Samsung plans to ditch the Z Fold 6’s under-display camera, which has been standard since the Galaxy Z Fold 3, for a punch-hole camera on the Z Fold 7’s inner display.
As impressive a technological feat tucking a camera under the display is, it often comes at the cost of image quality, as the camera has to capture photos through layers of the screen. Switching back to a punch-hole camera in the main display shouldn’t affect usability, but it could significantly improve the camera’s practicality for selfies and video calls.

Will these upgrades be enough to propel Samsung back to the top of our best foldable phones guide? We’ll hold off on final judgments until the details are confirmed and we’ve had some hands-on time with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
We shouldn’t have long to wait. While Samsung hasn’t revealed a launch date yet, it looks like the Z Fold 7, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Watch 8 could arrive on July 9 at a new Galaxy Unpacked showcase.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 looks positively svelte in dummy hands-on [Video]
A dummy unit of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been posted to YouTube. The hands-on video shows off the foldable phone in all its glory. Samsung is expected to unveil the phone at an event on July 9th. The foldable is much slimmer than the Z Fold 6, which was released last year. The phone is also much smaller than the 6.3-inch outer panel on the previous model. It looks more in line with the Galaxy S25 Ultra than its actual predecessor. It’s expected to go on sale in China and Korea later this year.
Korean YouTube channel TheSINZA uploaded a full hands-on video with a Z Fold 7 dummy unit, complete with comparisons to last year’s Z Fold 6 and the China-and-Korea-exclusive Z Fold SE. After years of minimal changes to Samsung’s foldable design — all while competitors caught up and, in many ways, surpassed the Z Fold series — it’s clear Samsung is taking its fellow challengers seriously with this phone.
In many ways, this video confirms what yesterday’s renders already promised us. This is a significantly slimmer, larger foldable than the Z Fold 6, measuring in at just 4.5mm when unfolded. That’s slightly bulkier than what initial reports had suggested, but still equates to a sub-10mm folding phone, which I’d argue is the modern standard. The design changes introduced last year — the squared edges, the slick metal frame — are all sticking around for another generation, making for what I think is a pretty excellent looking smartphone.
Still, there are downsides to making a foldable that’s not much bulkier than a Galaxy S25 Ultra. The camera module, for example, protrudes extremely far out from the phone’s back, so don’t expect a stable desktop experience without a case. Likewise, the volume rocker and power button — which doubles as the fingerprint sensor — both look pretty slim, even by foldable standards. It’s tough to say if that could cause issues when using the phone without holding it ourselves.

If it wasn’t for the slimmer chassis, the sheer increase in size is likely what would catch our eye in the first place. Compared to the 6.3-inch outer panel on the Z Fold 6, the Z Fold 7 looks more in line with the Galaxy S25 Ultra than its actual predecessor. Samsung has long been the sole holdout on bringing a standard display shape to the front of its Z Fold-series, even as rivals like OnePlus and Google flocked to this design. With the Galaxy Z Fold 7, you’re looking at a pretty standard display.
We’ve still got a few weeks left to go until Samsung’s rumored July 9th Unpacked event, but so far, the Z Fold 7 is stacking up to be the change plenty of us have wanted from the company for generations.
Judging by the leaks, what do you think of this foldable so far?
Supposed Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 gets unpacked before July in a video
Samsung could unveil its foldables on July 9. The second Unpacked event is expected to take place in New York, marking Samsung’s return to the city after two years. There are also rumors that an affordable Galaxy Z Flip7 FE could also debut during the event. Samsung has already shared two teasers with the Galaxy Z Fold7 in focus, suggesting that this year’s foldable will be taller and wider. The teaser also highlights the thinness of the upcoming foldable, claiming that it will be the thinnest and lightest foldable ever.
We are just a few days away from the official launch of Samsung’s premium foldables: the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7. The second Unpacked event is expected to take place in New York, marking Samsung’s return to the city after two years.
Samsung has already shared two teasers with the Galaxy Z Fold7 in focus, suggesting that this year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 will be taller and wider compared to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold6. The teaser also highlights the thinness of the upcoming Z Fold7, claiming that it will be the thinnest and lightest foldable from Samsung ever.
Samsung’s claims appear to be true, as, way ahead of its official unveiling, a Korean YouTuber, TheSINZA, has shared a video comparing the supposed Galaxy Z Fold7 with the standard Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition, which launched in China and Korea.
The dummy unit of the Galaxy Z Fold7, when compared with last year’s foldables, reveals just how thin and lightweight the upcoming foldable could be. The video suggests that the Z Fold7 will weigh 215 grams, much lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition, which weighed 236 grams.
When the Galaxy Z Fold7 dummy unit is put side-by-side against the Z Fold6 Special Edition, it appears to be noticeably thinner, measuring 9mm compared to the 10.6 mm thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold6 SE. From the front, the Galaxy Z Fold7 looks similar to the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition, but different than the Galaxy Z Fold6.
Though the volume rockers and power buttons appear thin in the Galaxy Z Fold7 dummy unit, they are located in the same place as previous foldables. The dummy unit is also compared with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and in terms of thickness, it is almost identical. This would mean that the foldable won’t feel different compared to Samsung’s premium slab phone.
Samsung could unveil its foldables on July 9. There are also rumors that an affordable Galaxy Z Flip7 FE could also debut during the event.
This Galaxy Z Fold 7 dummy puts its ultra-thin design into perspective
A new YouTube video shows a Galaxy Z Fold 7 dummy model based on leaks and rumors, giving our best look yet at the expected design. The video shows the foldable’s slim profile, with side-by-side comparisons showing how much thinner it is than the Fold 6. The dummy also illustrates the switch to a punch-hole camera and a larger outer display. Samsung has described the Fold 7 as its “thinnest, lightest, and most advanced foldable yet.” If this dummy model is a relatively accurate depiction of the final hardware, we’re excited to get our hands on it.

We’re just weeks away from Samsung’s next Unpacked event, but a new mockup is offering our clearest look yet at what to expect from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 physically. A TheSINZA YouTube video, shared on X by tipster Tarun Vats, gives us a close-up of a physical dummy unit of the foldable.
To be clear, this isn’t an official Samsung product. As the video notes, the dummy model was made in China and is based on publicly available rumors and renders. Still, it aligns with recent leaks we’ve seen, including the switch from an under-display camera to a punch-hole, a larger cover screen, and Samsung’s focus on shedding both thickness and weight this generation.
The Z Fold 7 dummy clocks in at just 9mm thick when folded, noticeably slimmer than the 12.1mm Fold 6 when compared in the video. When unfolded, it’s said to be around 4.5mm thick, aligning with the rumored thickness. There’s also a 6.5-inch outer screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio, which would make it more comfortable for one-handed use than earlier Folds.
The video also cites a rumored weight of just 215g, which would make it lighter than both the Fold 6 (239g) and even the Galaxy S25 Ultra (218g). However, this looks to be speculation on the creator’s part, as we have not spotted any leaks revealing this figure.
Internally, the video lists the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy as the processor. That matches recent FCC filings, which also point to the inclusion of Wi-Fi 7, ultra-wideband, and wireless/reverse wireless charging.
Samsung has described the Fold 7 as its “thinnest, lightest, and most advanced foldable yet.” If this dummy model is a relatively accurate depiction of the final hardware, we’re excited to get our hands on it.
