Samsung is preparing the Galaxy S24 FE for another big update
Samsung has started testing One UI 8 on the Galaxy S24 FE. Firmware for the Android 16-based OS was spotted on Samsung’s servers today. Samsung is presently testing OneUI 8 through a beta program that has so far been limited to Galaxy S25 users. The stable One UI8 update will debut with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, which Samsung will unveil next week.
Android 16-based One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy S24 FE was spotted on Samsung’s servers today. It carries version number S721BXXS5BYF1. This firmware is not publicly available, but you can now be sure that Samsung’s software development team is experimenting with One UI 8 on the Fan Edition device.
Because the Galaxy S24 FE wasn’t a part of the One UI 7 beta program earlier this year, Samsung will likely exclude it from One UI 8 open beta testing as well. Samsung is presently testing One UI 8 through a beta program that has so far been limited to Galaxy S25 users. Advertisement
One UI 8 will be the S24 FE’s second of seven major OS upgrades
With that in mind, the Galaxy S24 FE may receive the stable One UI 8 update without going through an open beta testing period first. When will the stable firmware go live? That’s anyone’s guess, but it could roll out before the end of 2025.
Until then, Samsung will continue testing One UI 8 on the Fan Edition phone behind closed doors to ensure everything is in order before the widespread public release.
From what we’ve seen so far, One UI 8 isn’t as big of an update as One UI 7. It’s more of a continuation. It builds on the foundation set by One UI 7 and polishes the user experience. Advertisement
