In about a month’s time, SEGA’s very promising-looking Shinobi: Art of Vengeance makes its way to PS5 and PS4. However, if that’s still too far away, you can get a taste right now with a playable demo.

The demo basically gives you access to the first level of the game, Oboro Village. It’s a pretty meaty stage that introduces you to all the basics as well as the shop and several upgrades and special attacks.

As you fight your way through, you’ll be able to search out alternate paths that lead to optional challenges and hidden chests. It seems that, while the game is level-based, each stage will be quite large, necessitating a map and several checkpoints.

It all ends with a boss battle of course, and once conquered, you’ll be able to dive back into the stage to find any secrets you might’ve missed, as well as play in Arcade mode, which removes cutscenes and adds a score tracker and timer.
