A suspect is dead after shots were fired on Monday at a building in New York that houses several major businesses, including Blackstone, KPMG, and the NFL headquarters, the New York Police Department said.
The shooting incident occurred at 345 Park Avenue at around 6:30 p.m., a spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed to Business Insider.
NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on X at 7:52 p.m. that the scene was contained. NYPD said in another X post that “the lone shooter is dead.”

Mayor Eric Adams also said in a post on X that people had been shot and that he would be visiting the hospital. In a video shared from the scene, Adams said police were carefully searching the building and asked that anyone inside remain there during the search.
An NYPD spokesperson said the department was investigating and would hold a press conference to share additional details.

“Our hearts go out to the victims of this horrific act and their families. We are incredibly grateful for the bravery of building security and law enforcement,” KPMG US said in a statement provided to Business Insider.
