Manchester United are looking to offload a number of players this summer, including Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, while Ruben Amorim is keen to strengthen his attack

Manchester United are undergoing a major rebuild under Ruben Amorim this summer after enduring their worst ever Premier League campaign. United finished 15th last season and also failed to qualify for the Champions League after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final.

The likes of Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof have all left the club on free transfers, while Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are expected to be sold.

United have already forked out £62.5million to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves and they are also working on a deal for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, having lodged an improved bid worth more than £60m.

With all that in mind, Mirror Football has taken a look at some of the latest transfer news and rumours from Old Trafford…

Sancho talks

Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Juventus over a deal for Jadon Sancho, with Fenerbahce also interested in the winger.

According to reports from Italy, Juventus were keen to find out how feasible a move for Sancho is and club chiefs had a video call with United on Wednesday to discuss a deal. Juventus are keen to sign a new winger, with both Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula expected to leave.

However, reports from Turkey have claimed that Sancho has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce. They are said to be willing to pay Sancho €10m (£8.5m) per year, while United have set a price tag of around €20m (£17m).

Nkunku hint

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has opened the door for Christopher Nkunku to leave the club this summer, with Manchester United said to be interested in the forward.

Nkunku has struggled for regular gametime since joining the Blues from RB Leipzig two years ago and when asked about the player’s future, Maresca said: “If Christo is here with us, it is because we think he can help us and he can be with us even next season. But as you said, there are many speculations, not just about Christo, about many players.

“And then if something is going to happen, I don’t know because we said many times when the transfer window is open, anything can happen in terms of players that can arrive or players that can leave.”

Rashford loan

According to the Guardian, Barcelona are interested in signing Marcus Rashford on loan this summer.

The forward is expected to leave Manchester United this summer and has publicly teased a move to Barcelona. The report states that United will want a fee-paying loan, but the Red Devils may have to take a hit on his wages.

Rashford is among their highest earners, taking home a reported £370,000-a-week, and it is claimed United ‘may be forced to accept’ a deal that involves Barcelona only paying a portion of his wages.

Chelsea agree £60 million deal to sign Joao Pedro from Brighton | OneFootball

Chelsea have agreed a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Joao Pedro. The Blues agreed personal terms on a long-term contract running until 2032. The 23-year-old also attracted interest from Newcastle United, but he only wanted a move to Stamford Bridge. The decision to pursue Pedro makes little sense for a club grappling with disciplinary issues. Pedro has shown an alarming pattern of behaviour, from a three-game suspension for violent conduct to a training ground bust-up with Jan Paul van Hecke.

Medical checks are being scheduled, and pending their completion, Pedro will join the Chelsea squad for the ongoing Club World Cup in the United States.

The versatile attacker adds further depth to the Chelsea frontline as the Blues seek to reinforce with firepower.

They have already signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town this summer. There is a deal in place to take Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.

However, the decision to pursue Pedro makes little sense for a club grappling with disciplinary issues.

Pedro has shown an alarming pattern of behaviour, from a three-game suspension for violent conduct to a training ground bust-up with teammate Jan Paul van Hecke.

He also escaped a few more potentially damning incidents.

Chelsea received the most yellow cards in the Premier League this season, while players like Nicolas Jackson and Reece James showed they must work on their discipline.

Adding a volatile character like Pedro to that roster is asking for trouble.

Even more baffling is that he is reportedly coming in as a like-for-like replacement for Christopher Nkunku, who was already surplus to requirements.

Chelsea did not need to replace Nkunku. They needed to reassess their squad structure and offload redundancies, not throw over £50 million at another forward with baggage.

Moreover, the West Londoners have struggled with players like Pedro, who are jacks of all trades that fit into multiple areas but do not have a fixed position.

Nkunku came with the same positional “versatility” but failed to fit anywhere at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea faithful will hope Pedro does not face the same issue.

Manchester United’s efforts to sign Bryan Mbeumo continue as two of Ruben Amorim’s current players outline their stance on their future amid reports of a swap deal

Manchester United summer transfer window is an important one for Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese coach is hoping to have a renewed squad in time for his first pre-season with the club.

But with plenty to improve after a 15th place finish in the Premier League last term, only Matheus Cunha has arrived so far. United signed the forward in a £62.5million deal from Wolves.

More is required however as the Red Devils look to strengthen their forward line. Talk over the futures of Bryan Mbeumo and Viktor Gyokeres remains but United appear to have made little progress in getting their next deal over the line.

And there are exits to facilitate too. Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho do not appear to have futures under Amorim but the club have yet to find a transfer fee for any.

Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours round Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood denied Man Utd reunion at Marseille for two reasons READ MORE:

Man Utd’s secret weapon

Manchester United have launched a new bid for Bryan Mbeumo worth more than £60m amid interest from Tottenham and he has already been speaking to a potential new team-mate about the move. Mbeumo has already indicated his willingness to join United but has since seen a bid arrived for his services from Spurs, who are now coached by the player’s former boss Thomas Frank.

Mbeumo starred for Brentford under Frank last season and scored 20 Premier League goals to garner interest from around the Premier League. And while Frank’s new position could help Tottenham’s quest to sign the player, United have their own asset in the fight.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana has been in contact with Mbeumo about joining the club, per reports. United’s shotstopper is an international teammate of Mbeumo and the pair are said to have ‘spoken about linking up’ under Ruben Amorim.

Garnacho’s preference

Alejandro Garnacho is keen on a move to Chelsea this summer, opening the door to a potential eye-catching swap deal with Christopher Nkunku. Manchester United boss Amorim has told Garnacho to find a new clubin the summer transfer window.

Napoli saw a bid rejected in January and Chelsea were among the interested parties during the winter window. The Blues appear to remain interest with a swap deal involving Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku touted.

Direct talks have yet been held but the Athletic reports that Garnacho would be open to the Stamford Bridge move because he wants to stay in the Premier League. The Blues are closing in on the signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens however which could make a transfer more difficult.

Onana’s transfer stance

Andre Onana wants to stay at Manchester United despite speculation over his future. The former Inter Milan and Ajax star wants to prove he deserves to remain the club’s No.1 even though Monaco have enquired over his availability.

Onana has told friends he wants to stay and fight to keep his first-choice status after signing from Inter Milan for £47.2m in 2023. The Cameroon international did deliver a cryptic reponse whe asked if he could leave United this summer however. “Will I leave?” he said. “I don’t know, we’ll see.”

The 29-year-old drew interest from Monaco and the Saudi Pro League, where he could have doubled his £120,000-a-week salary. But sources close to Onana have revealed his desire to remain at Old Trafford.
