EVERETT — Snohomish County is looking for applicants to fill a vacant seat on its Board of Health.

The Board of Health helps develop public health policy and makes recommendations as to the Snohomish County Health Department’s budget. It includes nine members.

The health department is seeking a board member who is a “consumer of public health,” a press release read, someone who has experienced health inequities or used public health-related support.

The board’s vacant seat was previously held by Julie Smith. She joined the board in March 2023 and resigned in February.

Applicants for the seat must not be elected officials or have any financial ties to health facilities or service providers, the health department wrote. The board will give preference to candidates from historically underrepresented communities.

The board is accepting applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Preference will be given to applications submitted by June 30, the release read.
