SpaceX scrubs rocket launch from Florida’ Space Coast
The launch will send 21 Starlink satellites into orbit from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX did not confirm why the launch was scrubbed. The next launch opportunity starts at 8:48 p.m. ET. The launch window opened at 3:57 p.m. ET. 23 satellites from the Starlink company, owned by SpaceX, will be heading to low-Earth orbit to join the thousands already there. SpaceX has delayed the eighth uncrewed flight test for its gargantuan Starship spacecraft. The decision to push the latest liftoff was due to issues with the booster. “Too many question marks about this flight,” SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said about Monday’s flight attempt. The next launch attempt for Starship is now targeted for 6:30 p.m. EST Wednesday, SpaceX said Tuesday morning.. The company plans to conduct experiments geared toward one day returning the vehicle, known as the the upper stage, back to the launch site. A launch would take place from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on the historic launch pad 39A – the site of the U.S. space agency’s Apollo moon mission launches. The project would require finalizing the development of what SpaceX refers to as a Gigabay, which would be used to integrate the 232 Super Heavy boosters with the Starship vehicle. The Starship vehicle itself is targeted to land once again in the Indian Ocean, but the company has yet to reach orbit on any of its flights.
