Five years back, during the worst of the lockdown, we surveyed students then graduating with sports degrees. As if it wasn’t painful enough that their graduations were all virtual, they were matriculating into a business that was largely nonexistent. All of their senior-year internships were shuttered, as was the industry. As if breaking into sports, or any competitive field, wasn’t taxing enough, that class of 2020 was additionally handicapped by starting within their chosen industry when it was facing an unprecedented existential crisis.
