MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile police are trying to find out how a bullet struck a local business.

According to Abe Harper, president and co-owner of Harper technologies, this all happened around 2:30 in the morning on July 2.

“My brother Carl and I, who is the co-owner and my partner, heard from one of our technicians that was arriving on the site that we had a window that was broken, that was not broken the night before,” Harper said.

This photo was taken hours after the incident, and you can see a bullet slug lodged in the window.

Harper said he’s very thankful nobody was hurt, and so is Mittie Wingfield, whose west Mobile home was hit by a stray bullet on July 8.

“Last night, I was sitting in my den watching the news and I heard “pop, pop, pop, pop,” “said Wingfield. ”Got up, came up to my sunroom and saw where a bullet had came through my back door. Totally shocked. I just couldn’t believe it.”

All of that was caught on camera. In a video you can hear what sounds like over 10 shots.

Right now, it’s still unclear who opened fire in Downtown Mobile and West Mobile and why.

MPD urges anyone with information on either of these cases to call them immediately.
