T.F. Green prepares for busy July 4th travel week
72.2 million Americans are expected to travel domestically between June 28 and July 6. That’s an increase of more than 1.5 million people who will be traveling more than 50 miles from home. T.F. Green was also listed as one of the top ten airports in the country by the Washington Post.
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — With the Fourth of July ahead the travel rush means T.F. Green Airport needs to prepare for more visitors traveling through its doors.
According to AAA, 72.2 million Americans are expected to travel domestically between June 28 and July 6.
That’s an increase of more than 1.5 million people who will be traveling more than 50 miles from home.
AAA also projects around 5.8 million people will fly over the same period.
Many travelers on Friday expressed their opinions about increased holiday traffic with traffic at the airport yet to settle in.
“We’re not really scared of the busy airports, we’re not rushed or anything, so it’s a perfect time to travel,” Adam Hess said.
T.F. Green was also celebrating a historic achievement, as it was listed as one of the top ten airports in the country by the Washington Post.
The airport was ranked sixth overall.
Many Rhode Islanders heading for the skies said the news was not exactly a surprise.
“I love this airport,” Bonnie Swienton said. “I have to fly through [Chicago Midway International Airport] to have to get to Rochester, but coming here you kind of know what to expect, and that’s good.”
Portland International Airport in Oregon was ranked the best in the country for 2025.
