Travelers looking for adventure can take advantage of great deals to places like Japan. Airfare to eastern Europe has fallen nearly 9%, offering good value for fall travelers exploring destinations like Poland, Romania, and Hungary. Tuesday and Wednesdays are the cheapest days to fly, while Sundays are one of the most expensive days. Single-ticket pricing on domestic one-way flights may be higher than booking two tickets together. The average price of airfare is the second lowest it’s ever been, according to Going.com.
“This is actually a really great season. We call it a shoulder season to save and explore without the price tag of summer flights that can sometimes happen, as well as the crowds.” Katy Mastro, travel expert at Going.com, said now is a great time to pack those bags for a vacation this fall.

“According to the latest CPI data, airfare is some of the lowest that it’s been –specifically in the last few years as well as if you adjust for inflation – currently average price of airfare is the second lowest it’s ever been,” said Nastro.

“We’re actually seeing that Europe has been knocked off its pedestal and Japan, specifically Tokyo, is now the most watched destination according to our Going data,” explained Nastro. “Recently, we found Boston to Tokyo for only $733 round trip, which is a stellar fare.”
According to Going, airfare to eastern Europe has fallen nearly 9%, offering good value for fall travelers exploring destinations like Poland, Romania, and Hungary. Flights from Boston to Bucharest are less than $400.
“We are seeing a shift in more people traveling over weekends versus sort of these Monday, Friday,” said Nastro.
To maximize savings, use flight alerts. These can help track specific routes and notify you of any price drops and future increases. Another way to save is by avoiding peak departure days. Tuesday and Wednesdays are the cheapest days to fly, while Sundays are one of the most expensive days.
And don’t be scared to book roundtrips. Single-ticket pricing on domestic one-way flights may be higher than booking two tickets together.
“We always say at Going, if you are planning on traveling during a peak season, try to book in the. opposite season and that would be right now,” said Nastro.
