Ex-escort sentenced to 16 years for trying to have husband killed
Dalia Dippolito was convicted last month of solicitation of first-degree murder. She was recorded on video and audio in 2009 as she plotted to have her husband killed. A 2011 conviction and 20-year sentence had been thrown out on appeal. A retrial last fall ended with a 3-3 hung jury.“People will say, ‘You’re really lucky to be alive,’’” Michael Dippolio says of his wife’s actions. “I can’t get to that because I had to deal with this nonsense for nine years,” he says of the three trials. the case gained national attention when Boynton Beach police video from the investigation went viral on the internet and was featured on the TV shows “Cops’ and “20/20.’ “This particular crime was committed not in an unsophisticated way, but in a sophisticated way in a calculated fashion,’ judge says.
Circuit Judge Glenn Kelley imposed the sentence on Dalia Dippolito, who was convicted last month of solicitation of first-degree murder. She was recorded on video and audio in 2009 as she plotted to have Michael Dippolito killed, telling an undercover detective she was “5,000 percent sure” she wanted her husband dead.
Kelley said Dippolito acted in a “cold and calculated manner.”
“This particular crime was committed not in an unsophisticated way, but in a sophisticated way in a calculated fashion,” Kelley said. “There was a plan put in place by Dalia Dippolito to kill Mike Dippolito.” He said the evidence showed that Dalia Dippolito may have been manipulating two other men in her effort to kill her husband.
Neither Dippolito nor her family showed any reaction when the sentence was handed down.
A 2011 conviction and 20-year sentence had been thrown out on appeal. A retrial last fall ended with a 3-3 hung jury. This time, it took the six-member jury 90 minutes to convict Dippolito, 34, who had a child last year while under house arrest.
Prosecutors believe she wanted control of the couple’s town house and her husband’s savings. The case gained national attention when Boynton Beach police video from the investigation went viral on the internet and was featured on the TV shows “Cops” and “20/20.”
Boynton Beach’s cooperation with “Cops” had been a key part of the defense, as Dippolito’s attorneys argued detectives manipulated her and their investigation to play to the cameras. Kelley said that while “theater” should not be part of law enforcement and the investigation wasn’t perfect, he believes the detectives saved Michael Dippolito’s life.
“The evidence supports that Miss Dippolito wanted him killed,” Kelley said. While prosecutors argued for a 30-year sentence, Kelley said he agreed with the previous judge’s sentence but gave her four years credit for the eight years she spent on house arrest.
Michael Dippolito, a convicted conman, testified Friday that his wife’s actions ruined his life. He said her unsubstantiated claims of spousal abuse as the reason for her actions still haunt him. He said that when he was arrested for stock trading fraud, he plead guilty and accepted his prison sentence and she should have done the same.
“People will say, ‘You’re really lucky to be alive,’” Michael Dippolito said. “I guess but I can’t get to that because I had to deal with this nonsense for nine years,” referring to the three trials. He testified he met his ex-wife in October 2008 when he hired her for sex, but they hit it off so well they were married in February. Within a month, he said, she was stealing money from him and trying to get his probation revoked by planting drugs in his truck and, he believes, spiked his ice tea with antifreeze in an attempt to kill him.
Prosecutor Craig Williams called Dippolito “a master manipulator” who needed to be imprisoned “to protect society.”
“If she wants something, first-degree murder is not enough for her,” Williams said. “She’ll do whatever it takes.”
Defense attorney Greg Rosenfeld unsuccessfully argued for probation, saying Dalia Dippolito had lived an “exemplary life” and she should not be judged by “the worst moment of her life.” After the hearing, he said he respected Kelley’s sentence but an appeal is planned.
Williams and co-prosecutor Laura Laurie argued during the latest trial that the evidence against Dippolito was overwhelming. They played a 23-minute video in which Dippolito told undercover officer Widy Jean she wanted her husband killed and agreed to pay $7,000. She also discussed various plots before Jean said he would kill her husband at the couple’s home, making it look like a botched burglary while she was at the gym.
Prosecutors also read for the jury X-rated text messages Dalia Dippolito exchanged with a now-deceased lover, Mike Stanley, in 2009 after she got married.
She had Stanley impersonate a doctor, to help her hide the $100,000 theft by pretending to be pregnant, and later a lawyer, to make her husband wrongly think he had completed probation, prosecutors said. She hoped that if her husband stopped visiting his probation officer, he would be found in violation and returned to prison. In one text message, she rejoiced after persuading her husband to put their town house in her name only; in another, she complained after learning she still couldn’t sell it without his signature.
Siblings have sex near church after watching ‘The Notebook’
Christopher Buckner, 20, and her half-brother Timothy Savoy, 25, admitted to committing incest three times in a church parking lot outside of Savannah, Georgia. The pair have been charged with incest, aggravated sodomy and prowling and are being held in the Effingham County jail.
Police say Christopher Buckner, 20, and her half-brother Timothy Savoy, 25, admitted to committing incest three times in a church parking lot outside of Savannah, Georgia after watching the Ryan Gosling romance “The Notebook.”
(For those not familiar with the cult film, it doesn’t have a happy ending).
Police were alerted to the pair’s antics early on Tuesday morning after responding to a call about a prowler in the area.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman David Ehsanipoor told the Savannah Morning News deputies went to inspect the area after a call at about 4:30 a.m.
During their patrol of the area they spotted a man and woman walking down the road. The male said he was walking the female back to her house.
Deputies determined that the pair were brother and sister and that they had just had sex in a Kenworth tractor trailer, which was parked at Countryside Baptist Church, Ehsanipoor said.
The pair have been charged with incest, aggravated sodomy and prowling and are being held in the Effingham County jail.
Seattle tops US cities where residents consider fleeing over safety worries: survey
7.2% of adults in and around the Washington state city have felt pressure to move in the last six months because they felt their neighborhood isn’t safe. That number translates to about 227,000 people out of the 3.1 million who inhabit the city and its suburbs. Only 3.4% of New Yorkers considered moving away over similar concerns, according to the study. Some conservatives believe the numbers are tied to supposedly “soft-on-crime” policies the city has long embraced — as well as its efforts to defund its police department after the 2020 murder of George Floyd in Minnesota. Despite the crime increases, city officials have refused to enact legislation that would punish public drug use. The city council shot down the measure in a 5-4 vote.
The data, collected by the US Census Bureau and other federal agencies as part of the Household Pulse Survey, shows that 7.2% of adults in and around the Washington state city have felt pressure to move in the last six months because they felt their neighborhood isn’t safe, the Seattle Times said.

“The obvious consequences of those policies is an increase in crime and a less safe community where it’s more difficult for people to live and do business,” Zach Smith, legal fellow and manager of the Supreme Court and Appellate Advocacy Program for the Heritage Foundation’s Meese Center, told Fox News.
“Seattle was at the forefront of the ‘Defund the Police’ movement and local leaders committed to cutting the city’s police budget by half — though they had to back away from that audacious goal when confronted with the reality of rising crime rates,” Smith said.

Crime has indeed risen in the city — homicides spiked by 24% last year, and motor vehicle thefts climbed by 30%, Fox said. Overall crime ticked up by 4%.
The increases came as police staffing fell to a 30-year low in 2022 as cops left the department for retirement or other jobs, according to Fox.
Despite this, officials have continued to reject tough-on-crime measures — such as a June bill that would have allowed the city attorney to prosecute public drug use and possession.

The city council shot down the measure in a 5-4 vote.
“At a critical time for the recovery of downtown, the use of dangerous drugs in our public spaces is a significant contributing factor to residents, employees, families and visitors feeling unsafe exploring our city or returning to the office,” the Downtown Seattle Association said in scathing take-down of the vote.
“In fact, in a poll we commissioned … a full 77% of voters agreed with the statement ‘Seattle’s hands-off approach to people using illegal drugs in public is contributing to rampant street crime and is making it much harder for downtown to recover,’” the association said, noting that 63% strongly agreed.
Due to the crime infestation, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell has pushed for more cops on the streets.
“We need immediate action and innovation to respond to our public safety issues,” Harrell said in February. “We need more officers to address our staffing crisis.”

The first attack was reported to police at 9:15 p.m. on the Rue du Palais in Metz in northeastern France, according to Mayor François Grosdidie.
Authorities received a report of a suspect involved in one of the attacks and used security footage to track him down, Grosdidie said.
“The municipal police identified him on Rue Serpenoise, arrested him, and made him available to the National Police and the Justice Department,” he added.
“I hope that the investigation, particularly through the examination of his cellphone, will lead to the identification of other attackers.”
Firefighters responded promptly to each attack, deploying seven emergency vehicles and creating a staging area for the victims on Place d’Armes, Grosdidie said.

It showcases a mix of professional and amateur musicians who play at different venues, including parks and street corners in cities across the country. Officials estimated that 50,000 people attended the concerts in Metz while “unprecedented crowds” descended upon Paris.
Across France, there were millions of people who took to the streets Saturday evening for the festival, according to La Monde. None of them were deterred by posts on Snapchat and other social media sites warning of the bizarre syringe attack.
The Interior Ministry said 145 victims across the nation reported being stabbed with needles, with Paris police officials probing 13 cases in the capital.
Officials did not specify if the syringes were filled with date-rape drugs such as Rohypnol or GHB, used by sexual assailants to make women and girls vulnerable to sexual assault, La Monde reported.
As of Sunday, at least three people reported feeling sick after getting jabbed by the syringe-wielding maniacs.

NYC women should use spray paint for self-defense: influencer
Moe Black, a 29-year-old fashion influencer, says spray paint is more reliable and easier to get. She says it marks the perp so that cops know exactly who the bad guy is. In New York, it is legal to carry pepper spray but illegal for it to be shipped here. The Big Apple now feels a lot like Detroit, Black says. She was inspired to share the tip after watching videos of women getting randomly attacked in New York City, where many self-defense tools are prohibited. One woman messaged her to thank her for sharing the tip, saying it saved her life in a domestic violence situation. “They should feel no sympathy,” Black said of the women who were afraid of injuring their attacker. ‘I was in a Domestic Violence situation and I remembered your video,’ she said.

Monique “Moe” Black, a 29-year-old fashion influencer Detroit native who regularly travels to the Big Apple for gigs, said a can of spray paint is more reliable and easier to get — and marks the perp so that cops know exactly who the bad guy is.
“I prefer spray enamel, to be honest, because that sh-t is never coming off,” Black told The Post.
She said she knew she needed some type of protection when she started traveling to the city for work.

Black puts a can in her tote bag, under her shoulder where it is easy to grab.
The idea came from her stepdad, a retired homicide detective for the Detroit Police Department.
“He was like, ‘You know, if you spray somebody in the face and then whack them over the head with it, you’re probably going to have enough time to run away,’” Black said.
And there is less chance it will blow back in the user’s face like pepper spray.

Growing up in the notoriously tough 7 Mile Road area of Detroit, she and her friends would walk to school with Master Locks in a sock to defend themselves.
The Big Apple now feels a lot like Detroit, she added.
And after watching videos of women getting randomly attacked in New York City, she was inspired to share the tip on TikTok. The video has gotten over 3 million views.

@moeblackx #stitch with @SMITH you can use pepper spray but not have it shipped to the city & its extremely hard to find in stock because of ny legislation around self defense items anyways stay safe and please give them hell if you cant run #nycsafetytip ♬ original sound – Moe
Already, one woman messaged her to thank her for sharing the tip, saying it saved her life in a domestic violence situation.
“I was in a domestic violence situation and I remembered your video,” the woman told Black. “I used spray paint and it gave me enough time to run out of my house and my neighbors were able to see me covered in blood and they called the police.”
Others reached out from around the world, like in the UK, where many self-defense tools are prohibited.
In New York, it is legal to carry pepper spray but illegal for it to be shipped here. Stores must be licensed or authorized to sell it in person and few are.

“All my friends in the city order it to, like, an Amazon locker in Jersey City,” said Black. “It is technically legal, but you’re gonna have to go over the river and through the woods to maybe pick up a bedazzled pepper spray that probably won’t do anything.”

She was most surprised at comments on her video from women who were afraid of injuring their attacker.
“They should feel no sympathy,” Black said. “You have every right to do whatever you need to to survive.”
