After having dealt away champion vets Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to get under the NBA’s dreaded second apron and the penalties the league’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA) were due to hit Boston with given their (at the time) potentially historic payroll in a season star forward Jayson Tatum will be out healing from a torn Achilles tendon, getting those cap savings were critical.

But the team has since made a few signings that will put them back above the second apron unless they make additional cost-cutting trades. Given what we know about the team building penalties and tax the Celtics are trying to avoid while building a team for the future, it is safe to say more moves are soon to come.
