Some states’ top pick aligns with what you’d generally expect, others had thrown us for a curveball. But oddly enough, in areas that don’t necessarily stand out as baseball-centric. List is based on data from ticket-selling websites and search traffic in the states, as well as state-by-state breakdowns of the top 10 most popular teams and leagues. The top sport for each state is College Football, followed by NHL, MLB and NBA.

Take a look… The NFL is the top sport, but … take a look at some of the other top picks. The top pick is College Football, followed by the NBA, the NHL and the MLB. The most popular team is the New York Yankees, with the Los Angeles Dodgers coming in second and the Chicago Cubs third. The number of teams in the top 10 is the same as it was in 2012, but the number of games played has increased since then. It’s the first time that the top five teams have all been in the same state at the same time, and it’s the second time that it’s happened in three years.
