Following last month’s Brazilian certification and a quickly-pulled teaser image leak, Logitech’s next-gen mouse has now appeared in a filing with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), giving us the clearest look yet at what’s changing and what’s not.

Here’s what the MX Master 4 looks like.

At first glance, the MX Master 4 sticks close to the design language that’s made the MX Master 3 and 3S beloved tools for so many power users. But look a little closer and you’ll spot some key differences.

The biggest one is that there is now a third button on the side of the mouse. While nobody knows what it’ll do yet, some users are hoping for just another remappable button, while others are already lamenting that it might be AI-related.

Elsewhere, the side profile gets a sharper cutout to better expose the customizable thumb button, which now seems to take up the entire thumb rest area, rather than the smaller, more discreet button on the current generation.

Also, Logitech has moved the charging/battery indicator LED to sit directly beneath the main scroll wheel, right below the mode-switching button for MagSpeed scrolling.

Other minor tweaks include reshaped primary click buttons and what appears to be a slightly more prominent side scroll wheel position, something we first noticed in the now-infamous (and swiftly deleted) teaser image that leaked on Instagram last month.

Specs and release details still under wraps

For now, there’s no word on specs, pricing, or materials, though fingers crossed, Logitech has heard the material quality and Bluetooth reliability complaints from current users.

Regardless, given that both Anatel certification and EUIPO filings are now public, plus the fact that Logitech already had marketing images ready to go, it’s probably safe to assume an official launch is just around the corner.
