Hoover to welcome national power, nationwide TV audience for football opener

Hoover High School will host IMG Academy on Aug. 22, 2025. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 8 p.m.

ESPN announced today that Hoover’s 2025 football season opener would be broadcast nationally on ESPN2. The Bucs are hosting IMG Academy on Friday, Aug. 22 at the Hoover Met.

Gametime is set for 8 p.m., according to a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The Super 7 football championships in Mobile in 2026 will be a four-day event.

New Oak Mountain baseball coach leaves ‘home’ for bigger challenge

P.J. Guy is the only coach the team has ever had. He led the Huskies to a Class 6A state championship in 2015 and 2018.

P.J. Guy said he left “home” at Helena to become the new head baseball coach at Oak Mountain High School.

After all, Guy is the only coach Helena has ever had and he led the Huskies to a Class 6A state championship in 2017 and runner-up finishes in 2015 and 2018.
