Omaha’s mayor announces an 11.6% increase in the city’s budget. The public will get a chance to weigh in on the proposed 2026 budget on August 12th. THIS COMES AS EWING ANNOUNCED HIS FIRST PROPOSED BUDGET FOR OMAHA THE 2026 BUDGET IS $1.8 BILLION. THAT IS AN 11.6% INCREASE FROM THE PREVIOUS BUDGET. EWING SAYS ADDING TO THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WILL HELP ACCOMMODATE THE AMOUNT OF ROADWORK MAINTENANCE THAT HAPPENS IN OMAHA. CERTAINLY, ONE OF THE BIGGEST COMPLAINTS WE GET IN THE MAYOR’S OFFICE AND ACROSS THE CITY ARE THE CONDITION OF OUR STREETS, AND WE ARE LOOKING TO DO A IMPLEMENTATION PLAN TO HELP US DEVELOP A STRATEGY FOR STREET REPAIR, AS WELL.
