Trump denies French President Emmanuel Macron’s claim he made offer for Israel-Iran cease-fire: ‘Much bigger than that’
“If the United States can achieve a cease-fire, that’s a very good thing,” Macron told reporters at a G7 summit in Canada. “He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Stay Tuned!” the commander-in-chief wrote in a late-night Truth Social post. Israel launched military operations against above-ground Iranian nuclear sites last week amid fears that Tehran had reached or was nearing the uranium enrichment threshold needed to build a nuclear weapon. Reports indicate that the president will give the Iranian regime one last chance to sign off on a deal that seeks to prevent it from enriching uranium needed for a nuclear weapons. The White House and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to The Post’S request for comment. The president reportedly still plans on giving the Iran regime a “last chance” at accepting a nuclear deal that would replace the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
“If the United States can achieve a cease-fire, that’s a very good thing,” Macron told reporters at a G7 summit in Canada, around the time the White House announced that Trump would be leaving the meeting of world leaders early because of the boiling tensions between Iran and Israel.

“There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange. An offer was made especially to get a cease-fire and to then kick-start broader discussions,” the French president added. “We have to see now whether the sides will follow.”
But Trump said Macron was greatly mistaken.
“Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong!,” the commander-in-chief wrote in a late-night Truth Social post.

The back-and-forth came after Trump warned that “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran,” and reports indicate that the president will give the Iranian regime one last chance to sign off on a deal that seeks to prevent it from enriching uranium needed for a nuclear weapon.
The White House and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
Macron further warned that any attempt to overthrow the Iranian regime amid the latest clash between Tehran and Jerusalem would be a “strategic error.”

“All who have thought that by bombing from the outside you can save a country in spite of itself have always been mistaken,” he said, according to the Times of Israel.
Macron noted that European leaders are willing to assist Trump in brokering a peace deal.

The military campaign, dubbed Operation Rising Lion, has also targeted the regime’s top nuclear scientists and leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Iran responded to the campaign by launching several barrages of ballistic missiles toward the Jewish state, some of which have made it past Israel’s vaunted Iron Dome interceptor system.

Dozens of Israelis and hundreds of Iranians have been killed in the conflict, according to the Israeli prime minister’s office and Tehran’s state media.
Trump had previously given Tehran a 60-day window to strike a deal with the US that would see Iran halt uranium enrichment operations.

The president reportedly still plans on giving the Iranian regime a “last chance” at accepting a nuclear deal that would replace the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, from which Trump removed the US in 2018.
“They have to make a deal, and it’s painful for both parties, but I’d say Iran is not winning this war, and they usually talk, and they should talk immediately, before it’s too late,” Trump said Monday at the G7 summit.

The Trump administration insists it has not been helping Israel carry out its military operations against Iran, though Israeli officials reportedly are pleading for US assistance to knock out what remains of Iran’s nuclear program.
Unlike the US, Israel does not have the bunker buster bombs and aircraft necessary to take out the Fordow uranium enrichment facility hidden inside an Iranian mountain.
