‘Turn Yourself In’ | Gov. Landry says to 7 inmate escapees, FBI offers $10K reward

Governor Jeff Landry called the escape “massive” and urged those still on the run to “turn yourself in” FBI also increased its reward to $10,000 for information per inmate, Crimestoppers reward offer went up to $5,000. Officials said anyone who is helping them will also be prosecuted and arrested. Authorities said the biggest challenge is that, as they are responding to tips, family and friends are allegedly helping the inmates. State police said they have received leads in other neighboring states, but did not lead to any arrests. The Department of Corrections will conduct a full audit of the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility (OPCF) to ensure its complying with basic jail guidelines. Also to remove all DOC inmates that were currently in OPCF. The order will require the commission to define specific benchmarks, such as the number of judge trials and acquittal rates in criminal courts.
