“T’was the nigh before Pride Month, when all through the house, not a gayby was stirring, not even a nonbinary spouse,” Chris begins the story, a play on Clement Clarke Moore’s classic poem.
“The pride flags were hung on the porches with care, in hopes that equality would one day be there,” she continued. “The queers in their polycules all snug in their beds, while visions of drag queens sashayed in their heads. And Zaddy in their harness, and I in my strap, were snuggled in bed after a pillow talk yap.”
Chris then gave a shout out to some of the heroes who made Pride possible, “I sprung from my bed to see Queen Marsha P., surrounded by icons like Sylvia and Stormé.”
She closed with a call for solidarity and resistance, “She clacked her fan and proclaimed with glee; ‘Now lesbians, now bisexuals, now pans and asexuals. On gays, they’s quick on dolls and bricks, stand united together and leave no one behind. And when bigots get you down, pay it no mind. Happy pride to all and to all a good fight.’”
