WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is monitoring weather conditions affecting southeastern North Carolina.

UNCW states that it plans to maintain its normal operating schedule while tracking conditions.

“Based on current information from the National Weather Service Wilmington, the forecasted conditions for the Wilmington area emphasize heavy rain, water ponding on roads and rip currents at area beaches,” UNCW stated in an announcement.

Per the announcement, UNCW emergency responders will work with New Hanover County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service Wilmington to “assess Tropical Storm Chantal’s track and potential impacts on our area.”

UNCW will continue to monitor conditions through Sunday, July 6.

The University states it will send an update if any schedule changes are necessary.
