LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Community members were able to improve their cardiac health and fund training for heart emergencies on Saturday as UofL Health hosted the 2025 Kentuckiana Heart Walk.

Every walker who signed up meant more money donated to fund CPR training.

Anyone participating in the walk can often find people who have survived heart emergencies themselves or who have had conditions in the past.

One participant told WAVE that she was born with holes in her heart and had to have open-heart surgery.

“It really means a lot to me because it reminds me that I can push through hard things, and I think it should remind everyone that,” said walker Remi McCrite.

WAVE is a proud sponsor of the Kentuckiana Heart Walk, and our very own Shannon Cogan MC’d the event.

Today’s fundraising goal for the heart walk was $750,000. At last count, the event had raised close to $600,000.
