Israel Iran War Live Updates: The United States has entered the war against Iran by joining Israel in striking Iranian nuclear programme sites, US president Donald Trump said.
The conflict has escalated in the West Asian region as Iran vows to retaliate. The war that started on June 13, is increasingly raising fears in the Middle East countries that have US military bases.
United States President Donald Trump said that Iran’s key nuclear sites were “completely and fully obliterated” by US strikes.
Trump made the comments at the White House Saturday night hours after announcing the US military had carried out strikes against three key nuclear facilities in Iran, reported the Associated Press.
The president also warned Tehran against carrying out retaliatory attacks against the US, saying Iran has choice between “peace or tragedy”.
Iran has vowed retaliation with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s representative urging attack on US forces, and closure of Hormuz Strait, Iranian state media reported. Hossein Shariatmadari said Iran must launch an attack on US Naval Fleet in Bahrain.
Khamenei’s representative says Iran must simultaneously close Strait of Hormuz to US, British, German and French ships.
The Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) confirmed that attacks took place on its Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz sites, but it insisted that its work will not be stopped.

Trump joins Israel’s war on Iran, says nuclear sites destroyed
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi calls the US strikes a “grave violation” of the UN charter, international law and the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Israel warns people to seek cover from an Iranian missile barrage that appeared heavier than the salvoes fired in the past few days. At least 16 people were hurt in the morning barrage.
Hours after Trump joined Israel’s war on Iran by sending B-2 bombers to Iran, the Israeli military warned people to seek cover from an Iranian missile barrage that appeared heavier than the salvoes fired in the past few days.
“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, calling the US strikes a “grave violation” of the UN charter, international law and the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Israel’s ambulance service said at least 16 people were hurt in the morning barrage.
Trump, in a televised address to the US people, flanked by Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, called the strikes a “spectacular military success” that had taken out Iran’s three principal nuclear sites: Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow.
He warned Tehran it would face more devastating attacks if it does not agree to “peace”.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Trump on his “bold decision”, saying, “History will record that President Trump acted to deny the world’s most dangerous regime, the world’s most dangerous weapons.”
US Urges China to Dissuade Iran from Closing Strait of Hormuz
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on China to encourage Iran to not shut down the Strait of Hormuz. Rubio said a move to close the strait would be a massive escalation that would merit a response from the US and others.
Rubio’s comments on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo” show came after Iran’s Press TV reported that the Iranian parliament approved a measure to close the Strait of Hormuz, through which around 20% of global oil and gas flows.
“I encourage the Chinese government in Beijing to call them about that, because they heavily depend on the Straits of Hormuz for their oil,” said Rubio, who also serves as national security adviser, Reuters reported.
“If they do that, it will be another terrible mistake. It’s economic suicide for them if they do it. And we retain options to deal with that, but other countries should be looking at that as well. It would hurt other countries’ economies a lot worse than ours.”

“Economic Suicide”: Marco Rubio On Possible Strait Of Hormuz Closure By Iran
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged China to encourage Iran to not shut down the oil corridor Strait of Hormuz. Rubio’s remarks came hours after US sent B-2 stealth bombers into Iranian territory and destroyed the country’s three nuclear facilities. The strikes involved the deployment of 14 bunker-buster bombs, more than two dozen Tomahawk missiles and over 125 military aircraft.
Speaking to Fox News, Mr Rubio said, “I encourage the Chinese government in Beijing to call them about that, because they heavily depend on the Straits of Hormuz for their oil.”
“If they do that, it will be another terrible mistake. It’s economic suicide for them if they do it. And we retain options to deal with that, but other countries should be looking at that as well. It would hurt other countries’ economies a lot worse than ours,” he added.
Around 20 per cent of the world’s oil and gas flows through the Strait of Hormuz. It connects the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. The narrow channel, approximately 33 km wide at the narrowest point, separates Iran (north) from the Arabian Peninsula (south).
Rubio’s remarks came hours after US sent B-2 stealth bombers into Iranian territory and destroyed the country’s three nuclear facilities – Fordow, Ifshahan and Natanz. The strikes involved the deployment of 14 bunker-buster bombs, more than two dozen Tomahawk missiles and over 125 military aircraft. “We’ll judge them (Iran) by actions moving forward. If they want to negotiate, we will negotiate. If they want to do things that are dangerous, we have responses available,” he said.
