Readers can vote for the South Shore Girls Golfer of the Year until Friday, June 27.Reader votes contribute 20% to the final decision, with the remaining 80% determined by four staff reporters. Once we’ve narrowed down the best of the best in each sport, we’ll look back over the entire 2024-25 academic year to crown our Male and Female Athletes of the year. Sophomore had a 14-1 record playing the Dragons’ first, second or third position this season. … Led Duxbury to fourth place finish by shooting a 97, good for 35th place among 63 golfers, at the state championship at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland.
Mary Kate McKenna, Silver Lake
Senior played the past two years as the Lakers’ top golfer. … Qualified for the southeast sectionals. … Said coach Kathy Drane, “An athlete like Mary Kate does not come along very often. She is humble, constantly trying to improve her game, and leads her teammates by her patience, perseverance, and respect for the game, her teammates, and her opponents.”
