A Warren family with ties to education and public service is giving back by establishing a new endowment to support business students at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

John and Cindy Jarzab, along with their daughter, Christine Jarzab Kuntz, have created the Jarzab Family Business Fund, an endowed gift that will support students and faculty in the university’s business management and accounting programs. The fund will provide resources for enhanced learning opportunities such as guest speakers, field trips, faculty and student projects, conference registration fees and the purchase of new technology.

“We gave this money because I’d like to see students have opportunities,” said John Jarzab, a certified public accountant and former adjunct instructor at Pitt-Bradford. “I have always been a fan of Pitt-Bradford.”

Jarzab taught accounting at Pitt-Bradford in the 1990s and says the institution’s mission of serving North Central Pennsylvania aligns with his own values.

“The university gives many students the education that will lift their families economically,” he said. “That’s what I liked about teaching. When you teach people, you give them the tools they need to make them successful.”

The Jarzabs’ daughter, Christine Jarzab Kuntz, an accomplished attorney specializing in nonprofit law, will also be lending her expertise to the campus. Both she and her father plan to return to Pitt-Bradford as guest speakers, sharing real-world insights with current business students.

Kuntz holds an impressive academic résumé with three degrees from the University of Pittsburgh: a Bachelor of Science in Biology (2000), a Master of Public Health (2004), and a Juris Doctor (2004). She works primarily with healthcare organizations, bringing a deep understanding of nonprofit operations and compliance.

John Jarzab earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business, adding to the family’s strong Panther pride.

University officials say the Jarzab Family Business Fund will make a significant impact.

“This gift is a wonderful example of how alumni and friends of Pitt-Bradford can help shape the future of our students,” said a university spokesperson. “We are grateful to the Jarzab family for their generosity, vision, and continued engagement.”

The fund is expected to begin supporting educational initiatives as early as the upcoming academic year. It is yet another step toward ensuring that students at Pitt-Bradford receive a well-rounded, experience-rich education that prepares them for success in today’s competitive workforce.
