Wasilla doctor and business owner arrested and charged with possessing child sexual abuse materials
Jeffrey Sponsler is a practicing doctor in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley at the Alaska Brain Center. Sponsler also owns Alaska Music and Arts, a music, karate, and dance studio for children. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched Sponsler’s home, where, according to court documents, they found evidence that Sponsler had been engaged in the activities alleged by the state. His arraignment hearing is set for Monday, June 9, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kyle F. Reardon. The books in question are Radiant Identities by Jock Sturges and Sweet Shaven Angles 2 and 3 by Mikhail Paramonov.
“On or about March 17, 2025, within the District of Alaska, the defendant, Jeffrey Lynn Sponsler, knowingly possessed, and knowingly accessed with intent to view, a computer disk and any other material that contained an image of child pornography,” Court Documents allege.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched Sponsler’s home, where, according to court documents, they found evidence that Sponsler had been engaged in the activities alleged by the state.
“Within his home, Sponsler did not hide his sexual interest in children. He had copies of several books depicting nude children and very young adults, often in sexual poses,” Court Documents allege.
The books in question are Radiant Identities by Jock Sturges and Sweet Shaven Angles 2 and 3 by Mikhail Paramonov. Now, the court documents do acknowledge that Federal courts have found the book Radiant Identities to be legal to possess.
“Courts have debated whether Radiant Identities is child pornography or obscenity. Federal courts have generally found it to be legal to possess, while some state courts have reached the opposite conclusion,” Court Documents state.
The documents go on to allege that Sponsler had dozens of electronics in his office and throughout his home.
“Sponsler also had dozens of electronics in his office and other rooms throughout the house, including desktop computers, laptops, external hard drives, memory cards, DVDs, and even VHS tapes. FBI is continuing to review the contents of those devices.”
According to documents, the alleged collection Sponsler has is “an extensive, well-organized collection of child pornography.”
“Given the number of folders, subfolders, screenshots, and slideshows Sponsler possessed, FBI has merely scratched the surface of Sponsler’s collection, even after extensive review. Sponsler’s collection was largely unencrypted, with one notable exception. The hard drives with Enature videos and Sponsler’s homemade child pornography, for example, were not encrypted,” Court Documents allege.
Sponsler’s arraignment hearing is set for Monday, June 9, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kyle F. Reardon.
Alaska’s News Source has reached out to the attorney representing Sponsler, Robert M. Herz, and the Alaska Brain Center for comment on Sponsler’s involvement with the center but had not received comment from either by the time of publication.
