West Virginia football team will see increased travel schedule in 2025
West Virginia will hit the road six times during the 2025 season and will travel close to 15,000 miles round trip between those destinations. In total, West Virginia will travel 14,544 round-trip miles which is more than the around 9,968 that the program hit in 2024. The increase is the extra road game on the schedule to some lengthy Big 12 road trips along with hosting Pittsburgh instead of making that short trek. The Mountaineers will have one road game within driving distance with the trip to Ohio a mere 155-miles one-way away from Morgantown.

The Mountaineers will have one road game within driving distance with the trip to Ohio a mere 155-miles one-way away from Morgantown. That matchup is the only non-conference road game on the schedule with West Virginia holding a 13-4 edge in the series overall.
It will be the first meeting between the two since 2001.
When it comes to the conference slate, the Mountaineers will make five trips including a pair to some of the largest distances available in Arizona State (2,072 miles) and BYU (1,912 miles.)
This will be the first Big 12 matchup against the Sun Devils but the third meeting overall with the two teams splitting the previous two meetings. The Mountaineers did win the most recent a 43-42 win in the 2016 in the Cactus Bowl. This will be the second trip to Tempe for the Mountaineers.
The Mountaineers are 2-0 against the Cougars with one of those being a Big 12 Conference matchup in Morgantown a convincing 37-7 win but this will be the first trip to Provo.
Another matchup with the Cougars also is on the schedule with the trip to Houston and it will be the second consecutive in the series between the two that West Virginia will travel there. That trip will be 1,326 miles one-way and the Cougars currently hold a 1-0 edge in the series.
West Virginia also will travel to Kansas for a conference matchup. The Mountaineers hold a 4-1 edge against the Jayhawks in Lawrence and the overall series is at 11-2 in favor of the gold and blue.
The Mountaineers also will get a trip to UCF holding a 5-0 edge overall in the series and winning both of the previous meetings in Orlando.
It’s going to be a lot of miles traveled for West Virginia but in the world of college conferences spread out across the country this will be the norm for the most part in the Big 12.
