Nearly two decades after a series of blasts ripped through Mumbai’s suburban trains, killing 187 people and injuring 824, the Bombay High Court on July 21 acquitted all 12 accused who had earlier been convicted by a special trial court.

Of those convicted, five had been sentenced to death and seven to life imprisonment. One of the death-row convicts passed away in 2021.
