After a return from the NATO Summit, President Donald Trump hosted a “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” event at the White House June 26, hoping to crank up pressure on the Senate to fast-track a vote of his mega bill.

Trump’s event Thursday featuring “everyday Americans” comes as his mega legislation faces major headwinds in the Senate, which narrowly passed the House in May. Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough earlier Thursday dealt a massive blow to the bill on key Medicaid provisions.

Trump’s whirlwind week had expected to end on the golf course in New Jersey, according to Federal Aviation Administration notices, but his plans have seemingly changed. Here’s what we know.

Where is Trump today?

On June 26, President Trump hosted a “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” event at the White House. The event was billed as a last-ditch effort to “pressure GOP holdouts” of the bill and included a group of working-class Americans the Trump administration says would benefit from the bill, including border patrol agents, tipped workers and food delivery drivers, according to Axios.

Is Trump in NJ this weekend? Did Trump cancel NJ plans?

The Federal Aviation Administration had posted several flight restrictions around Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster and the Morristown Airport, where Air Force One lands, for the president’s expect visit from Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29. Those notices disappeared from the system on Thursday, June 26.

Still active is an FAA Safety Team notice — which comes ahead of an official FAA notice — that indicated “VIP Movement Notification” for June 27-29.

It remains unclear why the official notice had been removed, and Trump’s schedule for the weekend remains unknown as of Thursday evening.

So, did the ‘big beautiful bill’ pass? What is the ‘big beautiful bill’?

Trump’s signature legislation — which he’s dubbed “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” — is a tax, spending and policy megabill. Its biggest impact would be extending the 2017 tax cuts from Trump’s first term, which amounts to $3.7 trillion the federal government won’t have in its funds over the next decade.

Many of the items in the 1,000-page bill include Trump’s 2024 campaign promises, including the well–known no tax on tips and overtime wages.

When will the Senate vote on the ‘big beautiful bill’?

The House has already passed its version of the reconciliation package. It must still get through the Senate, and any changes must go back to the House for approval before going to Trump’s desk for his signature. On June 26, Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled several key Medicaid provisions could not be included in the bill, offering a major setback as Republicans press for a final vote.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said this week she expects the bill will be on Trump’s desk by July 4th. Senate Republicans, who have a 53-47 edge, are using a process that requires only a simple majority to pass the tax bill in each chamber.

What is a Senate parliamentarian?

The Senate parliamentarian is a nonpartisan advisory position who advises the presiding officer and senators from both parties on Senate rules, precedents and statutes as they relate to proceedings, according to the Bipartisan Policy Center. He or she does not make any rulings; rather, they help clear up any confusion or debate and provide advice to senators.

Elizabeth MacDonough has served in the role since 2012 and is the first female parliamentarian and the sixth person to hold the title since its founding in 1935.
