Every once in a while, we have celebrity sightings in Rochester, Minnesota. Most of the time, they’re in town for something related to Mayo Clinic. It could be because they have an appointment or someone they know is at the clinic.

This time, though, this particular celebrity was, believe it or not, NOT in town for Mayo! Crazy, I know!

Celebrity in Rochester, MN Yesterday

The celebrity who was spotted in Rochester yesterday is a former professional basketball player. He’s from Minnesota, played for the Gophers in college, and he was also married to Kim Kardashian.

Kris Humphries was in town!

But, like I said, he wasn’t in town for Mayo. I know he’s been in town in the past for basketball camps but he wasn’t here for that, either.

One thing I didn’t mention is that Kris also owns his own restaurant chain, which opens a location in Rochester this week. That’s why he was here!

Dave’s Hot Chicken Opening in Rochester, MN

Kris Humphries owns the chain Dave’s Hot Chicken. Yesterday, I got the opportunity to try them out before they opened, and that’s where I spotted Kris!

Jessica On The Radio, Townsquare Media Rochester

I went with Jessica On The Radio from Y-105 FM. As we pulled into the parking lot, a G-Wagon had pulled in right in front of us. We both park, and this really tall guy gets out of the G-Wagon.

Jessica says, “I think Kris Humphries is here!” I said, “No, no, that’s probably just another really tall guy.” I was very wrong; it was actually Kris Humphries in town for the opening of his new restaurant!

Unfortunately, I didn’t have to guts to go up and ask for a picture (I’m too concerned that I’ll make the celebrity uncomfortable. Ridiculous, I know.) but I tried to get some photo proof that he was actually there without making things too weird.

I’m not sure how long he’ll be in town, but maybe he’ll be around for the grand opening. Today, June 19th, is their soft opening of Dave’s Hot Chicken in Rochester. Tomorrow, Friday, June 20th, is their grand opening.

Side note, the food was super good! I got the medium spiciness and didn’t think it was terribly spicy, so if you like something hot, then go up from what you usually get.
