Will this be Alabama’s hottest week of 2025?
The National Weather Service expects high temperatures to climb into the mid- to upper 90s in many areas today through at least Wednesday. Heat advisories will be in effect on Sunday for a large part of the state, and forecasters expect more advisories to be issued for Monday through possibly Wednesday. The combination of air temperatures and Alabama humidity will make it feel hotter, and some spots could see the heat index climb above 110 degrees this week, according to forecasters. North Alabama has a 20-30 percent chance for rain, but the rest of Alabama will have less than a 20 percent chance of seeing any showers. The weather service expects temperatures to moderate some from Thursday through the weekend, with scattered showers and storms in the forecast each day until at least Saturday. The heat index could range from 103-107 degrees in those counties today, the National Weather Weather Service in Huntsville said in its Sunday forecast discussion. It’s possible the heat could back off a few degrees across Alabama on Wednesday, the weather service said.
Another heat have begins on Sunday in Alabama and could last through mid-week, according to forecasters.
And this week’s temperatures could be some of the hottest so far this summer in many areas.
Heat advisories will be in effect on Sunday for a large part of the state, and forecasters expect more advisories to be issued for Monday through possibly Wednesday.
The National Weather Service expects high temperatures to climb into the mid- to upper 90s in many areas today through at least Wednesday, and there won’t be as many chances for rain for several days.
The combination of air temperatures and Alabama humidity will make it feel hotter, and some spots could see the heat index climb above 110 degrees this week, according to forecasters.
“There is high chance for dangerous heat conditions to continue through Wednesday. This will be a long-duration period of extreme heat conditions with no overnight relief, affecting people and pets without adequate cooling and hydration,” the weather service in Birmingham said in its Sunday forecast discussion.
And that will be true statewide for the next few days.
SUNDAY

High temperatures will range from the low to mid-90s today across all of Alabama, and heat advisories will be in effect for a large part of the state (those are listed at the bottom of this post).
MONDAY
Here are Monday’s expected high temperatures. NWS
Expect temperatures to climb by a few degrees on Monday, according to weather service forecasts.
Highs will range from the low 90s in the northeast part of the state to the mid- to upper 90s for everyone else.
Expect rain chances to remain on the low side. North Alabama has a 20-30 percent chance for rain, but the rest of Alabama will have less than a 20 percent chance of seeing any showers.
TUESDAY
Tuesday’s highs will get very close to 100 degrees in some areas. NWS
Tuesday will be another very hot day across Alabama.
The weather service is forecasting hight to climb into the mid- to upper 90s, and some spots might hit 100 degrees.
Rain chances will be a bit higher on Tuesday. North Alabama will have a 30-40 percent probability of rain, and the odds increase to around 50 percent for most of central and south Alabama.
WEDNESDAY
The heat could back off a few degrees across Alabama on Wednesday. NWS
Wednesday could see the heat back off for some spots in Alabama and increased chances for rain.
The weather service is forecasting high temperatures to range from the low to mid-90s on Wednesday.
Rain chances will range from 60-70 percent statewide.
THURSDAY AND BEYOND
The weather service expects temperatures to moderate some from Thursday through the weekend.
It will still be warm, with highs in the 90s expected, but they will be in the lower 90s for a change.
Scattered showers and storms will be in the forecast each day through at least Saturday.

NORTH ALABAMA

A heat advisory will be in effect for northwest and north-central Alabama on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The counties in the advisory are Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall and Cullman.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville said the heat index could range from 103-107 degrees in those counties today.
CENTRAL ALABAMA

More heat advisories for Alabama today: Is cooler weather on the way?
Nearly all of west Alabama will again be under heat advisories on Wednesday. The National Weather Service expects the heat index, (which combines the effects of heat and humidity) to climb as high as 109 degrees in parts of the state this afternoon. Eastern Alabama will get to experience more typical late July temperatures, which could even stay in the 80s in some areas. Temperatures are expected to come down a bit for the entire state on Thursday, with highs still in the 90s but the lower 90s. But long-range forecasts suggests another heat wave will be coming to Alabama next week, and the mercury will rise again into the mid-90s for many areas starting on Monday. Most of west Alabama is facing another round of heat advisories on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service expects the heat index, (which combines the effects of heat and humidity) to climb as high as 109 degrees in parts of the state this afternoon.
Air temperatures on Wednesday will rise into the mid-90s in west Alabama today, according to weather service forecasts:
It will be the hottest on Wednesday in western Alabama. Slightly lower temperatures are expected in east Alabama. NWS

But.
Long-range forecasts suggests another heat wave will be coming to Alabama next week, and the mercury will rise again into the mid-90s for many areas starting on Monday.

A heat advisory will be in effect until 9 p.m. (not 8 p.m.) Wednesday for Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan and Cullman counties in north Alabama.

Alabama’s hottest temperatures of 2025 expected next week
A long-duration heat wave will be possible next week in Alabama. Tuesday could be its peak. High temperatures could approach or possibly even exceed 100 degrees in some areas. Forecasters don’t expect a ton of relief overnight, with lows only expected to fall barely into the 70s, and there could be several minimum low temperature (the highest low temperature) records broken next week. But there is hope for some relief, with the Climate Prediction Center’s six- to 10-day temperature outlook forecasting a 60-70 percent chance of warmer-than-average weather for Alabama through Aug. 3. The outlook shows that north Alabama could even have a shot for some below-average temperatures.Other parts of the state could be near-average, and south Alabama has slightly raised odds of continued above-average Temperatures.
Another heat wave is expected across Alabama next week, and it could bring the hottest temperatures of the year to the state, according to forecasters.
Temperatures are expected to start rising again by Sunday, and the heat wave could peak by Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The much-above-average streak of days could continue into Wednesday or Thursday before backing off.
High temperatures could approach or possibly even exceed 100 degrees in some areas, and, combined with humidity, could make it feel well above 100, according to the weather service.

The weather service expects a ridge of high pressure to move eastward and park over the state for a period, which will raise temperatures and decrease rain chances for the first part of next week.

SHORT-TERM OUTLOOK

There is a high probability of above-average temperatures for Alabama through the first few days of August.
The Climate Prediction Center’s six- to 10-day temperature outlook is forecasting a 60-70 percent chance of warmer-than-average weather for Alabama through Aug. 3.
However, there is hope for some relief.

The CPC’s eight- to 14-day outlook shows some less-hot weather making its way toward Alabama.
The outlook shows that north Alabama could even have a shot for some below-average temperatures.
Other parts of the state could be near-average, and south Alabama has slightly raised odds of continued above-average temperatures.

Another heat advisory will be in effect for southeast Alabama until 6 p.m. CDT Tuesday.
