“A little windy, you know, but it comes back together nice,” Willie Leonard said.
Leonard and his family traveled from Maryland to Ocean Lakes Campground for the holiday weekend, arriving just as the rain began.
“We got here right when it started, so right when it hit, I was parking the camper,” he said.
The storm’s timing coincides with the Fourth of July weekend, bringing many travelers to the area. Jennifer Laister shared her experience of enjoying the ocean despite the storm’s presence.
“We went into the ocean. It was a lot of fun. You could feel the tides kind of pulling you, but then we went back to our resort and went into the lazy river,” Laister said.
While no red flag warnings have been issued, lifeguards are advising caution for those entering the ocean. They spent Saturday afternoon securing beach chairs and umbrellas in preparation for the storm.
Local officials are not overly concerned about Tropical Storm Chantal, but newcomers to such weather are exercising caution.

Horry County Emergency Management officials echo this sentiment, urging everyone to stay alert and be careful.
