The win snapped Indiana’s two-game winning streak and moved Golden State to 6-6 on the season, placing them fourth in the Western Conference standings.
Defensively, the Valkyries were locked in from the start. They held Indiana star Caitlin Clark to just 11 points on 3-for-14 shooting while keeping her under pressure all night.
After the game, the Moreau Sports Media Production Company caught a key quote from the Valkyries’ guard Tiffany Hayes on the team’s strategy against Clark:
“We just followed the gameplan, coach gave us a great plan…we know she (CC) is a 3-level scorer…we knew it was a great team effort today…. A great team defensive win.”
Hayes came off the bench and was one of five Valkyries to score in double figures. The veteran guard, who played her college ball at UConn, logged a team-high 32 minutes.

The rivalry between Reese and Clark stretches back to their college days, with Reese’s LSU besting Clark’s Iowa to clinch the 2023 NCAA national championship. While Reese can flaunt that championship ring, it’s Clark who’s been hogging the spotlight in the pros.
Clark has bagged All-WNBA First Team honors and Rookie of the Year title in 2024, along with being named TIME magazine’s Athlete of the Year and the Associated Press’ Female Athlete of the Year.
Nonetheless, Reese’s resolve is steadfast, as she told the press: “I just want to be unstoppable.”

“But she’s our best chance at versatility on this roster. We need more production out of her, but we need her to help us in other ways, too. She’s been putting the time in. She’s been a great teammate. She knows we need to use her in a variety of ways.
“We’re still trying to pinpoint the most advantageous part of that. That’s something that has yet to come together, but it’s a necessity for us to win.”
With an upcoming game against New York on the horizon, Reese confidently told the publication, “I put my head down and work every single day. I don’t give up on anything.
